1)Background
- She was born to a poor
family in China.
- At the age of 47, she
learnt nursing, and also
opened homes and
hospitals for the aged.
- Founder of the Heart to
Heart Service and the
Home for the Aged Sick.
2)Project
- Her older sister, Ursula,
bought her a piece of
land. Thus, Teresa opened
the first home for the sick
aged in Singapore.
- The sisters converted a
bungalow into wards for
the patients.
- Teresa sold fruits to fund
the home.
5)Learning Points
- She was caring.
- She never stopped
helping others.
- She was determined
to improve the lives
of others.
3)Challenges
- She had a lack of funds
and volunteers.
- She was at an old age,
when she was caring for
others.
4)Solution
- She got help from the
Rotary Club and they
agreed. But the sisters
had to run the home
themselves.
