• Joseph Henry realized that millions of people
around the suffer from millions hunger
everyday.
• He was therefore compelled to run 500 miles to
raise awareness and to raise a $100,000 for the
United Nation Food programme to fight world
hunger.

• Henry planed to run 30 miles a day in this 17 day
Hunger 500 campaign
• He sacrificed his precious time in commitment
to his exhaustive physical training to prepare for
the run. He also suffered various injuries

4. History of Hunger 500
• Henry came up with the idea for the run after
attending last year’s hunger summit. “I was
inspired by the people I met who were doing
tremendous things in the fight against extreme
hunger and poverty.”
• He feels that there is no bigger issue in the world
than extreme hunger and poverty, and the
solution requires involvement from every
individual

5. Impact of hunger 500 and Joseph
Henry
• . The Hunger 500 makes a difference by showing
others that they can take action against hunger.
• His determination to help the needy and his
ability to overcome physical and social
boundaries as he faced discouragement from
friends and injuries from training inspires many
to step up and take action.
