2. This is the original image
I am using on my front
cover. I am going to
remove the bluescreen
background behind the
model and replace it with
a background of my own.
3. Here I have removed the
background from the
original image by using
Colour Range to select
all the blue area around
him and put a mask
around the model,
separating them from the
background.
4. After, I have applied
some effects on to the
model to make him stand
out more, including Drop
Shadow and Inner
Shadow.
5. Here I have added the
masthead of the
magazine at the top of
the page where it stands
out the most. I have
added effects to the
masthead to increase
visibility, such as Drop
Shadow and Stroke. I
also boosted the
saturation and vibrance
of the image so that it is
less bland and nicer to
look at.
6. I have now started to
add extra details to the
magazine, including a
pug with the date and
price of the magazine on
it, “FIRST ISSUE” under
the masthead, and a
strip at the bottom
featuring what is
included in the
magazine. I used similar
effects for most of the
features on the front
cover.
7. Here I have begun to
add various cover lines
to the front cover, used
to attract the audience
with different buzz words
such as “EXCLUSIVE”. I
have also added a
covermount to it, saying
“DEMO CD INSIDE!”. All
these coverlines were
made using the text tool
and Character window to
edit them. I have also
adjusted the leading on
each line to fit the page.
8. I have now placed a
background behind my
model, of a corridor with
lockers within view. The
background is blurred,
which makes the model
on the front stand out the
most, since they are the
main feature of the
magazine.
9. To finish, I placed a puff
next to the model’s face
with the buzz word
“EXCLUSIVE” in it so it
grabs the audience’s
attention. Overall the
magazine is colourful,
and I made everything
stand out.
10. This is one of the original
images I have used on
my contents page
showing a band of four
giving direct address to
the audience. I will be
removing the
background and placing
them somewhere they
stand out.
11. I have removed the
background like I did
with the front cover
original image by using
the Colour Range tool to
select the bluescreen
and put a mask around
the models.
12. I have created a new A4
document and placed my
models along the
bottom, where they will
stand out among the
details on the contents
page. I will be adding
effects such as Drop
Shadow and Inner
Shadow to make them
appear more naturally on
the page.
13. I have added the effects
and are now starting to
add my text, including
the masthead and
Contents.
14. I have added the effects
and are now starting to
add my text, including
the masthead and
Contents.
15. I have now added the
rest of the lines on the
contents, colouring them
so the stand out on the
plain background and
using buzzwords and
text manipulation such
as underlining to lift it off
the page and appeal to
the audience.
16. I am now adding other
original images I took
onto the contents page.
The images are
unedited, but I added
effects to them such as
Drop Shadow and Stroke
to put them in a box. I
also increased the
saturation to each image
so that they look much
more colourful.
17. These are all the images
added to the contents
page, with all the effects.
I chose these images
because I think they fit
the rock genre, and will
appeal to the audience.
18. I have anchored the
images to the contents,
adding page numbers to
each image.
19. I have now added social
media links which I think
will appeal to the target
audience and keep it
modern.
