How I Made My Music Magazine Contents Page
1. How I made my music magazine contents page... Amy Harriss
2. Here I have started my contents page by choosing the ‘star avenue’ text I used for my front page as the main contents header. I was previously going to use the text I used for my front cover masthead (Alice from dafont.com) however I didn’t think the text looked as good due to the T’s being in capital. Here’s what it would have looked like:
3. I then added a black rectangle behind the text to make it stand out with contrast and look more attractive. This I put on a slant.
4. Using a brush tool I created a textured effect on the black text box. I have used a dark green colour.
5. This is how it now looks with the box having a bit of texture.
6. Here I have now added the name of the magazine ‘Musicrox’ to the left hand side of the page in the same text used on the front cover masthead. I have put this at a slant.
7. Here I have started to add some design to the contents by using a blue coloured brush.
8. Here I have used the same brush in black to create another design feature. I free transformed the brush to be at a different angle.
9. I have then added a small blue brush tool to create an effect behind the Musicrox logo.
10. I have then added 3 black boxes as headers for were I will put my contents information. I have used a bevel and emboss effect on the boxes to give them a modern, standing out effect.
11. Here I have added text in the 3 black boxes as headers. I have made this text white so it stands out on the black.
12. Here I have started to work on an image to put on my contents. This is a picture that goes with my main feature on my front page.
13. Using the magnetic lasso tool I cut out the image of the artist and transferred it onto my contents page.
14. I then edited this image with the black and white tool, I chose the red filter to make the image appear darker.
15. Using the free transform tool I have made the image smaller.
16. I have now added some text onto the contents in blue and black.
17. Here I have added some more effects with some brushes around the image.
18. Here I have used a Polaroid effect brush in which I will put a picture in to draw attention to another feature in the magazine.
20. Here I have added some text that goes with the image in the Polaroid effect.
21. I have now added some text next to the picture of my main feature to draw attention to it and show the page number.
22. I have now added a splat effect in black next to the Polaroid picture.
23. Here I have added a title for an editor’s note. I have given this a drop shadow effect.
24. Here I have added an editor’s note and used a drop shadow effect on this too.
25. I have now added a rounded box in white around the editor’s note. To avoid covering up the design I previously have done I reduced the opacity. I have then used bevel and emboss and the stroke effects to make the box stand out more.
26. Finally, using a Manhattan city skyline brush tool I have created an effect at the bottom of the page. I used free transform to move the image into the blank space. The text for my main feature I moved to fit in with the new image.
