2. I contemplated including these
images in my magazine but came to
the conclusion that they are not
suitable for the front cover of my
magazine. One of the main reasons
for this decision is the fact that these
photos are landscape. This is not
appropriate for the front cover of a
magazine. I also felt as if the black t-
shirt by itself didn’t convey the genre
of rock enough.
3. I have chosen this image to feature on my
front cover for a variety of reasons. One of
these reasons it due to the effective mise-
en-scene of the models clothing. For
instance, the denim jacket represents the
genre and would appeal to the target
audience. Furthermore, the model has a
moody facial expression which is also
relevant to this genre.
4. Although I have taken an image similar to this,
I will not be using this specific photo in my
magazine. The lack of direct address is purposeful

The lighting has produced a yellow effect on the
models appearance, making it look tacky and
unprofessional. The slight smile is also not
relevant to the genre as common associations
with rock consist of anger and this would
therefore not fit in.

page of my magazine. Compared to the
previous image, the lighting is less full-on
