1. Double page spread Q & A
Intro: At just age 19, Raffa- dull has already earned the love and respect of
his elders, like Kanye West. He’s so positive he seems to walk around on a
beam of light, even though he comes from a rough city in London going
through one of its darkest chapters. And yet that light just keeps getting
brighter. This is Raffa’s moment, nobody else speak
Blazed: What’s the first rap album you listened to?
Raffa : When I was around 14 my dad drove me to France from London , it
was a 8 - something hour drive. I brought my Kanye west, can’t tell me
nothing cassette. I asked him, "Dad, can I please play this? Mom won’t let me
play it in the house." He was like, "Yeah. You can play it for 20 minutes.” And
then we listen to an hour of my music.
Blazed: who was your biggest inspiration?
Raffa : I was always a big Kanye west fan since I was 14 years old and I
always was interested in his wealthy lifestyle and his music, and I kept saying
to my parents “I want to be like him when I’m older” and my mom used to
always say “focus in school and be a doctor”; she was never keen on the rap
industry and she always thought it was too luxurious, you know. In 2015, I
met Kanye west when I was on holiday with my parents at Los Angeles and I
went up him like “ yo man Kanye, can I spit some bars real quick for you”
and he was like “ ah bro, I gotta go somewhere real quick”, at this point I was
thinking this is my only opportunity to become a rapper so I shouted as
Kanye was walking away “ dude, gimme 5 minutes, that’s all man … 5
minutes “ and he said “ okay go “ and as he was walking I was following him
and my 5 minute bars turned into 20 minutes. Kanye loved my rap and he
gave me he’s phone number, and he started my rap career by helping me
write my first music video and hooking me up with a studio
Blazed: Wait, so you were thinking about your career at 14?
2. Raffa: Yeah, 14, 15, I mean, 16, 17, is when I was really getting into that hip
hop phase, you know, and really studying the things that I needed to study
as far as learning about flows and learning about lyrics.
QUOTE: “I’m trying to do better than good enough”
Blazed: can you describe your relationship with the new rap sensation, zee?
Raffa: we’re both new to this rap industry, so you could say we’re rivals, but I
know I’m smashing this rap game and my man zee needs to start catching
up cuz he’s nowhere near my level, he needs to step up his game if he wants
to compete with me. Also, he’s 22 and I’m 19, his made more songs than me
and I’m still on top bro. I heard zee chatting shit about me and that I’m
going nowhere but we’ll see man, I’m gonna get bigger and better and you
know it bro, watch out.
Blazed: what is your biggest ambition?
Raffa: ha ha, I wanna keep my future plans as a secret but eh, I will tell you
one thing I want to achieve in the future and that is to feature Kanye west in
one of my future songs and hopefully that happens, that will be a dream
come true, you know.
Blazed: Talking about secrets is it true that you were on drugs when you
were 16?
Raffa: nah man, it’s all rumours. I tried weed once because back in Brixton all
my school mates were on drugs and smoking which is why I tried weed when
I was 16 when I was chillin at my mate’s place, but I got caught by my mom
that night and I never did that shit again ha ha.
Blazed: when you became a rap artist how did you feel moving Los Angeles?
Raffa : I felt like my life has flipped over and it took me a couple weeks to
get used to the luxurious life. I went from being broke as hell to make
making bare P’s daily. I used to live in a flat with my parents and that flat
3. used to smell like piss all the time and now I live in a million dollar crib. I
never imagined this new life after failing all my courses in college and living
in a shithole. But, leaving my parents was the hardest thing to do, but they
come to visit sometimes which is good to catch up with them.
