2. A$AP Rocky
A$AP Rocky is an artist I would use on my
cover because he is one of the biggest
artists in hip-hop right now. He covers
most of hip-hop/rap’s sub-genres
including trap music, which is a secondary
focus of my magazine beside just general
hip-hop. He also talks about in his songs
his past life and how hard it was an his
‘hustle’ to make it to where he is now
which fits in with my magazine’s title;
‘Hustle’. He is a big fan of gold and
jewellery so having him on the front cover
would fit in with the colour scheme and
the background meaning of my title
‘Hustle’ (which I’ve mentioned in my
research task 5 question 5 post.)
3. Future
Future is an artist I have talked about in
my task 6 question 1 post. I feel he would
be suitable because like Rocky, he is one
of the biggest artists in todays hip-hop
music. He is the biggest current trap
(sub-genre) artist and very big in covering
the whole of hip-hop. He also had a
tough life before making it big which he
refers to in his music. He would also
possibly bring in a wider audience rather
than just hip-hop as he is quite a
celebrity as of 2015 and been in many
magazines. So the fact he is so big in hip-
hop and trap music and due to his
‘hustle’ coming up, he would be a good
artist for me to use as a artists to use in
my magazine.
4. Pusha T
Pusha T isn’t one of the biggest artists
in terms of hit records due to him not
focusing on catchy hooks or singing any
of his lyrics. But he is very respected by
rap fans because of his ‘mean style’ of
lyricism. Pusha T often refers to drugs
he sold when he was younger and how
he used to live in a trap house. He
mentions he did this to ‘hustle’ for his
money that he funded his rap career
with. This makes him suitable as an
artist for my magazine. Also the fact
that he is respected and tries to ‘keep
alight’ the founding style of hip-hop, it
would make users want to read about
him as he is well-respected.
5. Migos
Migos are a rap group consisting of
three members: Quavo, Offset and
Takeoff. They are the main act who
brought trap music to the mass
audience and increased its popularity.
They are the inventors of many
common slang words used now a
days. They are heavily obsessed with
gold with gold and are often seen
with more than 3 chains on. They still
hang around their neighbourhood in
Atlanta despite their wealth and fame
which I feel will be well-respected by
my audience.
6. YG
YG is a rapper from Compton in LA.
He is one of the few artists that keeps
the 90s gangsta rap still alive. He is
known for this and is very well-liked
for it. Like Migos he still hangs around
his old neighbourhood. He often talks
about his grind funding his rise to
fame. He felt like there was no place
in his community for a black male to
succeed academically so he chose to
make music. He would suit my cover
due to his similar beliefs and thinking
as many black males and also for not
being fake. Also he had to ‘hustle’ his
way to the current success he has.
