- The document summarizes the results of a survey given to the general public about a rap magazine.
- Most respondents correctly identified the genre as rap based on the cover image, text mentioning rap artists and genres, and color scheme.
- Feedback also indicated the font, layouts of the cover and contents page, and images of rap artists were clear, appropriate and well-structured.
- Responses about how appealing the cover image was and how well the article fit the genre of rap ranged mainly from 6-9, a bit lower than feedback from the target audience which ranged mainly from 8-10.
2. Question 1
I asked this first question because I wanted to
know if the genre (rap) is clearly shown after
looking at my magazine; the results were
quite interesting and unusual because when I
asked my target audience, all the answers
were on rap which was perfect but for the
general public around 13% of the answers said
they thought my magazine is representing the
genre: house which was 2 people out of 15
responses. They probably chose house
because of the colour scheme and that itās
very colourful with red, black, white and grey
and lively which suits house. In addition, one
person said pop, which is the unusual bit
because pop magazines are a lot different and
bubblier and pretty, full of pop artists, so this
was probably an elderly, which hasnāt got
knowledge on the rap genre in this century
and mustāve got distracted with the blazing
red colour on the magazine which is eye-
popping like pop. On the other hand, 80% of
the responses said rap, which is ideal because
this shows that the magazine identifies what
genre itās representing and I asked this
question to find out if my magazine clearly
shows that itās a rap magazine.
3. Question 2
I asked this second question to find out why the people
said it represented the genre rap or whatever they
chose and I wanted to find out why people chose the
genre house and pop to see what I shouldāve improved
on. I got 14 responses out of 15, which means one
person probably didnāt know what specific feature
helped him/her to identify the genre they chose so
they skipped the question. Moreover, I looked at the
answers I got and they were what I was expecting
anyway because they are similar to the answers I got
when I asked my target audience. Many people said
that the main image of the artist was the main feature
that helped them identify the genre and this is because
he is a well-known artist that represents the genre: rap.
In addition, people said the text and colour scheme
helped them identify the genre which is brilliant
feedback for me because the cover lines mentioned the
word ārapā a couple times and I did a list of artistās
name on my front cover which also helps the reader
know what genre the magazine is. Overall, I got positive
answers, which show I was successful with the
magazine I have made and I successfully represented
the rap genre by adding many features, related to rap.
4. Question 3
My third question was a simple question to find out if the people thought the colour scheme matched the genre I was
representing. In the question I added āRapā at the end in brackets because some people still might not know what the genre is
so I made it clear that itās a rap magazine by adding the word ārapā at the end. The results were positive again with 14 out 15
people saying yes, but one person said no which was probably somebody that thought my magazine was representing another
genre, anyway, when you get results they are never 100% perfect but this was 93.3% which is almost perfect so Iām glad with
the results.
5. Question 4
Now, I asked which gender is my magazine mainly aimed at and I gave the options of āmaleā, āfemaleā or ābothā, and the results were
surprising because when I asked my target audience 14 people said male and one said both, but after asking the general public I got
a different result. Almost Ā¾ of the responses was āmaleā and Ā¼ was on ābothā. 11 people said male and 4 people said both but
nobody said only female, which shows that the magazine clearly is, aimed towards the male gender, which is positive feedback
once again from the general audience.
6. Question 5
I asked the general public if thought my font was clear and I gave them a scale from 1 to 10 on how clear my font is and I
asked this question to see if the font is clear for everybody and not only my target audience and I got the same positive
answers when I asked my target audience. I got 9 and 10 from all my responses which is perfect and this clearly shows that
my magazine text is easy to read for everybody and not blurry, too small or too big. When I asked my target audience too
the results were also on 9 and 10 which is perfect feedback for me once again.
7. Question 6
My sixth question was useful because I got 100% positive results which is rare and amazing. Everybody thought my magazine front
cover looks like a successful, published and professional magazine and that is coming form the general public, which is great. When I
asked my target audience everyone said yes apart form one person which is amazing too but not perfect as these results and that
person said probably said no because he/she has a greater knowledge on rap magazines and doesnāt think my magazine is perfect
enough to be a successful magazine.
8. Question 7
When I asked the general audience how clear the layout is of my front cover I made them answer on a scale from 1 to 10 again
because itās a fun and easy way of answering questions and it gives me a specific answer rather than a simple yes or no. When I asked
my target audience 1 people said 8, 7 people said 9 and 7 other people said 10, which I s a great result, however, when I asked the
general public I got an even better result as you can see above; this shows that my target audience are more strict with their answers
and thatās probably because they have a better knowledge on rap magazines than the general public and that the layout and structure
of my magazine is almost perfect as professional magazines.
9. Question 8
Now, these are the results that I found most interesting because the results werenāt great, they were only average. I was kind of
expecting these results because most of the general public might not be into rap and into the other mainstream genre such as
pop, RnB and rock etc. or they might not even be into music so thatās why the general public werenāt that appealed to the main
image of the rap artist. I made the general public answer the question on a linear scale starting from 1 all the way up to 10 again
and the answers were mostly on 6 and 7, which is above average so thatās alright from the general public. On the other hand,
when I asked my target audience the answers were mainly 8 and 9 and some on 10 which was amazing results and I am more
focused on what my target audience says about my magazine because itās aimed at them and this shows that my target audience
gives totally different results to the general public.
10. Question 9
I already asked the general public how well my front cover layout was, so now, I asked how well my contents page layout is
because itās just as important as the front cover and I want to keep my neat structure consistent throughout my magazine. I
made them answer in a scale format from 1 to 10 again because itās an effective way of picking up results. The results I got were
on 9 and 10 (mostly 10) which is similar to what they said to my front cover layout too and this shows that my magazine as a
whole is structured well. Furthermore, when I asked my target audience they also said 9 and 10 and mostly said 10 as well
which shows that everybody thinks my contents page is well structured well.
11. Question 10
The 10th question was to find out if the images I used were appropriate for the genre (rap) Iām representing and I asked
this to see if I used the right images and that using rap artists on my images was a right idea. This was a yes or no
question and everybody said yes which was what I was expecting . In addition, my target audience all said said yes too
and thatās because they can easily recognize that the images are rap artists because they are well known artists and they
are all wearing gangster-like clothing which is what rap artist typically wear for fashion.
12. Question 11
The final question was āHow well does my article fit in the genre (rap)?ā. I made the question a linear scale again from 1 to 10 and
the answers were mainly positive. All the people answered at 7 or above (mainly 9), which is great results because I tried hard to
make the article fit in the rap genre. Also, when I asked my target audience, I got positive feedback with people answering mainly
on 9 and 10 , and 2 people said 8 which is better and Iām more focused on my target audience's feedback as itās mainly aimed at
them.
In conclusion, the target audienceās feedback was similar to the general public in a few questions but the target audience were
more positive which Is a great result for me.
