2. My R&B magazine will be called ‘Wave’, this is because I think
it is the most suitable for my genre, also many people thought
this was the best option when asked by myself from my
questionnaire in task five.
The title of my magazine will be called “Wave”.
TITLE OF MAGAZINE
3. The reason why I chose the R&B genre is because it has
influenced me the most, as a growing teenager. Throughout my
childhood, I listened to many R&B artists such as Chris Brown,
Rihanna, Ne-Yo and mainly Usher, and from time to time, I used
to read R&B magazines. This allowed me to have some sort of
idea of music magazines, and what would be included and what
I could potentially add in my own magazine. Therefore, this
influenced my decision in choosing the R&B genre for my music
magazine. Although I currently listen to other genre’s such as
hip hop and read some hip hop magazines, I still listen to R&B
artists often as they are still producing popular singles that I
like. This influenced my opinion on choosing the genre of my
magazine.

TARGET AUDIENCE PROFILE
5. On my front page, I would like to include a medium/full body shot
of my artist, who is my chosen artist, it will be my main image for
my R&B magazine. Also, I will include secondary cover lines that
will refer to other interesting articles, that the audience can then
read later on in the magazine. My cover lines will follow the codes
and conventions, as they will be on the sides and my main image
will cover the bottom two thirds of my magazine, which would
follow the rule of thirds. Moreover, I will use a Puff that will relate
to an artist, possibly text such as “11 singles and Usher is not
done yet!”. Furthermore, I will include a catching tagline related
to recent news, maybe ‘The Weeknd’s new album “Starboy” out
now!’ I will make sure to use an image that has direct address so
that a feeling of intimacy will be created between the main image
and the reader. Lastly, I will use a suitable font, size and colour
that will be appropriate for my magazine genre, using the
feedback I received on my questionnaire in Task 7. For example, I
will aim to make the masthead of my magazine a large size, in
order to make it stand out if it were to be placed on a shelf in a
shop.
INITIAL IDEAS ABOUT
FRONT PAGE
6. For my contents page, I will make sure to include the pages
that the articles are on, using a suitable layout that my
audience can read. Moreover, I will add different images that
will anchor with the text on my contents page. For example, if
the contents page mentioned something about The Weeknd’s
new album, I will show a picture of him close to the text. I will
do this for a few of the artists that would be displayed within
my magazine, to make it look professional and realistic, as
this is what an actual music magazine would include.

CONTENTS PAGE
7. For the double page spread within my magazine, I will display
images and include information about the chosen artist that is
on my front cover. A large image will be shown across both
sides of the page, showing my artist on one of the sides,
making it look dramatic and more realistic. Moreover, I will
have text on one side of the page, discussing my artist’s recent
succession and what has been happening lately. Furthermore,
the double page spread will include information on what my
artist hopes to do in the future with their career, maybe with a
quote somewhere on the page.

PAGE SPREAD
8. In my magazine, I will include photographs of my artist in
different environments. I will make sure to clearly display what
my magazine genre is through the use of costume, location
and makeup. This will add to the verisimilitude of my
magazine, and therefore increase the likelihood of my target
audience purchasing my magazine.
