Final version q&a
1. Final version Q&A Interview for Double Page Spread-
This exclusive interview with Violet Lilys, an up and coming Indie Pop
band, talk to us on what has motivated them to succeed in their
music careers as well as the key to a chart topping second album!
Chloe the lead singer, Alfie and Sam the guitarists and backing vocals,
with Becky and Lauren on drums and keyboard are the combination
that form Violet Lilys.
When will you be releasing new music or an album?
We will be releasing a new single in the next month or so, weare not giving
any hints as to the title of the song, but we promiseit is one of our most
favouritesongs wehave ever written. We haveexperimented with different
sounds to create a whole new vibe. We hope this will attract a wider audience
as we value our fans the most.
Are you planning on attending any music awards?
We’ve heard we have been invited to the Brits, so hopefully we can attend, if
we’renot already busy!In the future wehope to attend many moreaward
ceremonies and eventually even play at one.
Have you been nominated for any awards?
Not that we know of yet, but you never know once we release our new single!
We would love to win moreawards in the future, wecurrently haveattained
BBC Radio 1’s Best newcomer to the music industry award.
Who are your favourite Artists?
Artists like Arctic Monkeys and The Killers, definitely have inspired us in the
style and sound of our music. Many of us have been to a variety of concerts
and festivals and seen a lot of different bands and solo artists. We aim to get to
their kind of standard by the time we have produced a third album.
2. What’s the highest any of your music has ranked in the
charts? And how did you react to it?
We haven’t achieved a number one yet… but wehope to in the future! The
highest we haveranked so far was on our second album where it was number
nine in the charts including online downloads. To achieve an album in the top
10 felt amazing, but we obviously wantto better ourselves every time.
What makes your band different to others?
Our band is unique because we have all at somepoint in our schooleducation
been a partof a previous band and have musical knowledge. We are all quite
experienced with music which helps us a lot when we are writing/producing
new singles and albums. We are a niche genre, but we like to express our
individuality and encourageothers to embrace it.
What inspired you all to start a music career, or form a band?
We were all friends beforeand knew of our musical abilities, so in our gap year
before University, wedecided we might as well give it a go and see where it
would take us. After that things justseem to fit in place and we wereonto
creating our first album less than a year after our firstsingle- Rain.
Are you excited for your future career as a band?
We are! There is so much more we want to achieve and experience as a group
and we are only at the mere start of our journey, plenty more is to come! We
hope… A dream would be touring around the UK, but an even bigger goal
would be to eventually take our music abroad outside of our comfortzone.
Do you ever see any of you going for a solo career?
Not any time soon but there is always a chance, depending if the time is right!
There would be no hard feelings if any of us did, as we are all supportiveof
each other. We are only at the startof our career so we don’t wantto put any
unnecessary pressureonto it, we are justenjoying it as it blossoms.
3. What instruments can any of you play?
All of us can play the guitar, Chloe can play the keyboard, Alfie can play the
Ukulele, Sam can play the trumpet and Becky and Lauren can play the
recorder. So we all play a variety of instruments really.
Where will we next see you gig?
Our next big gig will be in Leeds, followed by Newcastle. We are the support
act Catfish and the Bottlemen Tour which is unbelievable! It’s a dream come
true! We are so excited to perform; we hope everyonewill warm to us…
