Zoga Research Paper
A day in the life of Zoga is quite weird. I start my day waking up super early when the sun has not come out yet. We hate light, just like vampires,
we run away from it. Were just like them, we burn and die because of sunlight. You might ask yourself, well how and where do we spend our day,
you'll find out in a little. As I was saying, we wake up super early, to get our morning food. Before we eat, we have to become the predator. We eat
other bacteria, we use our big fake eyes to scare any of them who want to eat us, and then we will eat them. We move our legs fast like a cheetah.
That scares them a lot, so then we eat them and save some of the food in our cheek pouch for the rest of the day. A really small amount can last us a
day, we have a really fast metabolism so we are always moving. We then get in a huge pack of Zoga's and travel together into... Show more content on

We stay there and we reproduce our selves, we find a really sharp pointy thing somewhere and cut ourselves, don't worry we don't feel any pain at all.
When we do, more of us come and grow! We try to make our species last because we can only live for 35 weeks. This type of reproduction is called
asexual reproduction. We respond to everything that is around us. When it's getting too hot for us, we go outside real carefully or were burned to
death. Our skin is very sensible. One by one, we all have 3 seconds to go outside and run back in our home. When it gets too cold, we all get in a pack
to stay warm. We cant see, so we feel our way around. Luckily, we have fake eyes. Our eyes are specifically made to scare predators away. This is
called stimulus. Our species all have the same DNA or same genetic code. DNA is kinda of a molecular blueprint for a living thing. Our DNA says that
we are bacteria, we are unicellular, so we only have one cell in our body. Our DNA lives in the

The Reality Of Television Shows
This Is What The Reality Of TV Is. The popularity of reality TV shows lately do not amaze me, in the society today, people admire excessive pride
than high moral standards. A lot of shows which need to be cancelled portray and teach a lot of bad behaviors. Although these reality TV shows
may make us laugh or even amaze us with its characters, who are bad influences to the society especially children. These shows gives us a picture
of how people are drastically driven by the love of money, fame and riches instead of the power of love of people for each other. The indecent and
improper behavior being displayed by these characters are not to be emulated because it has a negative effect on the society, especially on children
because the promote the use of drugs, alcohol and foul languages. Reality shows such as Jersey Shore and Real World on MTV promote nothing but
alcoholism. People get hired just to have fun, involving alcohol. People get the wrong impression of how to act and behave, making them think that
the only way to have fun is by drinking alcohol and getting drunk. Most people in the society today believe that alcohols consumed on shows make it
seem cool or fun to drink and get drunk. A reality show producer, Kurt Reams, once said that the rate and amount at which Tv stars consume alcohol is
ridiculous that most viewers could get influenced which is a wrong idea.

Music Censorship Essay
Music Censorship
Healthy debates have been caused by today's music. Generally, foul language has rapidly increased within modern popular song lyrics, especially
among rap and heavy metal artists' songs. An increase in explicit violence and misogyny in popular music lyrics has been recorded. These lyrics have
been judged to be inspirations for violent, suicidal, and criminal acts. For example, Mr. Raymond Kuntz referred to his son's incident. ''When his wife
went to wake their son for school, they found him dead of a gunshot wound, still wearing his headphones with Marilyn Manson's Anti–Christ Superstar
CD still in the player. The boy's favorite song was ''The Reflecting God (Nina Crowley, ''Senate Hearings on Music, Newsgroup at page 2,... Show

(Baris 4).'' The youth is obviously not fully protected if storeowners do not follow the restrictions. The most popular music of children under the age of
twenty–one is rap and heavy metal, which are the two leading participants in the foul language controversy (Volz 18). Knowing this, storeowners
should heavily enforce the underage laws. However, One American boy noted the ease of buying profane music albums in spite of his age of fifteen
years (Crowley). If storeowners continue to sell obscene heavy metal and rap music to under aged children, then the society will only worsen.
I believe this foul music should be much further restricted from people that it could harm. The younger citizens of America are most influenced by
today's music; therefore the restriction levels that have been placed upon it should be enforced. Obviously the laws are not yet strong enough to deny
young people of the possession of profane music.
Children still obtain ''stickered'' CD's, despite the child's age. If this awful music is available to minors, society will not improve its youth's attitude.
''During the last decade or so in the United States, many people have expressed concern that rap music – especially rap with violent or misogynic lyrics
– – is harmful to not only the youth of

Sociology: Sexual Objectification of Women in Music Videos...
The Research Problem This study works to examine the use of sexual objectification of women in music videos today. The primary purpose was to
examine the differences between genres, specifically hip–hop and country. I tested the following; Women are more likely to be sexualized in hip–hop
music videos than in country music videos.
Literature Review Since the explosion of music videos in 1981, a large portion of their popularity has been due to the objectification of women and
their sexuality. "Early content analyses showed that anywhere from 40% to 75% of music videos contained sexual imagery"(Arnett, 2002). Hip–hop
music videos especially have a reputation of degrading women. In these videos "women are often depicted in positions ... Show more content on

Videos not containing a female were accounted for and removed from the sample pool, leaving a total of 50 (25 hip–hop, 25 country) videos used for
the final analysis.
Data Collection Sexual objection and non–sexual objectification were mainly measured in body exposure and body movements. The different areas of
a woman's body being displayed were used to operationalize the idea of sexual objectification. Similarly, camera angles such as panning down bodies
and shots down shirts were tallied to create a solid definition of "sexualizing" for the purpose of this research. (see Appendix A and B) Each video was
watched twice, to ensure that no characteristics were missed. Videos were analyzed through the use of sexual characteristics and non–sexual
characteristics tally sheets. When a specific characteristic was present it would only be marked down once per video. Because the focus of this
research was on sexualization of women, only females were identified and coded.
Justification of Research Method The strategy of secondary analysis was chosen for this research because it is cheap and timely in comparison to
other forms of research. Using data collected by other reliable sources increases the validity of secondary data analysis research.
Findings
Data Analysis from the 50 music video sample showed that hip–hip music videos sexually objectified women more in comparison to country music
videos. Accumulated data results, as shown in the 2x2

Persuasive Essay On Teenage Pregnancy
"One might say that reality television began in 1948 with Allen Funt's Candid Camera, which featured the filming of real people as they reacted to
annoying situations concocted by the show's creators." (Maasik and Solomon) Next PBS launched reality television shows, followed by MTV. Today a
popular reality television show is 16 and Pregnant. It is an American reality television show that aired since 2009. This reality television show portrays
the stories of high school teenage pregnant girls and the challenges that they go through. Each episode in the series shows a different teenage girl when

The Theme Of Empathy And Fear In Ruthless
In many stories, parallels to the real world can be seen. This is a way to connect the reader to characters or situations in the novel, making a false
story seem more realistic. In the book Ruthless by Carolyn Lee Adams, a 17 year old girl named Ruth was kidnapped by a man named Jerry. He
took Ruth to the woods and though she managed to escape him, she still remained lost in the woods with no way to get home. With Jerry at her heels,
she plotted ways to escape the woods, but that didn't stop the fear of being recaptured to continue to loom over her. The growing lack of empathy and
fear throughout Ruthless, are two real world concepts that were incorporated into this novel as a parallel to our society.
The fear that Ruth feels throughout the story resembles the fear that many people feel due to terrorist attacks today. In the story, Ruth is in
constant fear for her life because she is lost in the woods with a man that wants to kill her. While struggling to figure out how she was going to
escape the woods, Ruth expressed, "All I have now is rage. But somewhere, hiding underneath it, is fear (Adams 84)." Ruth still feels fear because
even though she escaped Jerry's captivity, she's still lost in the woods, and and she knows there's a very good chance of him finding her and killing
her as he planned. Similar to the fear portrayed in the book, many people today have a fear of terrorism. An article on hate crimes against Muslims
states, "Incidents targeting Muslims increased each of the last several years after fluctuating for a decade following a strong spike in the wake of the
Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.(1)" According to statistics, hate crimes against Muslims were very low prior to 9/11, but they reached an all time high
once the attacks took place. In the years that followed, the hate crimes kept a common trend of occurring about 5–6 times as much as they had before 9
/11. The fact that Muslims went from hardly being attacked before the attacks to having almost 500 hate crimes against them in 2001, showed that
many of their attackers were motivated by their fear of more potential attacks.
The lack of empathy shown in the story by both the kidnapper and the couple living in the woods, paralleled the

Michael Jackson Research Paper
The start of MTV (Music Television) and the invention of CD, cassettes, boom boxes, and the Walkman in the 1980s revolutionized and popularized
the music industry. The MTV catalyzed the shift of focus from music and lyrics to fashion, theatrics, and image. Celebrity gossip became a prominent
factor in daily life as stars were remodeled into brands. New music genres also snatched the popular stage, including pop, hip hop, new wave, and hair
metal.
Known as the "King of Pop," Michael Jackson was a singer, dancer, and songwriter whose 1980s hits soared the charts. "Beat It," "Billie Jean," and
"Thriller," songs that remain famous even today, represent his fanaticism with theatrics – as his music videos were long with dialogue, featured popular
artists and actors, and conveniently gave him the chance to display his self–created dance moves, such as the well–known Moonwalk. Jackson

The Mystery Of Iniquity By Lauryn Hill
The audience may think the top of their heads might blow off, when first hearing the song "Mystery of Iniquity" by Lauryn Hill. The album that the
song was on (MTV Unplugged No. 2.0) went on to sell 5 million copies. Sure, there are females that rap, sure there are other ground–breaking studio
productions that were a work of art in and of itself, and sure rappers use lyrics that connect to relationships, politics, faith, and cultural criticism, but not
like the famous Lauryn Hill. The poetic devices in Lauryn Hill's "Mystery of Iniquity" reveal society's inevitable self–destruction through societal
stigmas and stereotypes, justice system flaws, and religious references. To all the people who said that hip–hop had nothing important to say, and had
not a lick of musical bone in them, this song was a smack in the face to all the haters.
American singer, songwriter, rapper, record producer and actress, Lauryn hill, was born on May 26, 1975 and raised in South Orange, New Jersey.

angry. She had tried to get in touch with him countless times, but he never picked up. Fine, if he didn't want to talk to her then he would never see
her again. About two weeks after the marriage announcement Nicole quit her job as a stewardess. Jetson didn't really care. He had a sexy new

Jetson honestly didn't give Nicole a second thought after finding out she had quit. She had just been a fun fuck while it lasted. He had moved onto

Essay about 80's Music
Music and the Eighties
One of the best known decades for music was the eighties. During this generation, there were a number of landmark events. This decade set a
standard for music to evolve from for years to come. One of the most recognized advancements was Mtv. It was first debuted on August 1, 1981.
This gave way to the first video jockey (VJ). A video jockey was someone who announced videos and told a brief synopsis of the band.Mtv was an
outlet for music videos and a gateway for musicians to get their music to the fans. When it first aired at 12:01 am, the first words were, "Ladies and
Gentlemen, rock and roll". The first video played by Mtv was, "Video Killed the Radio Star" by The Buggles. The digital phase wasn't... Show more

Mtv has been going strong for almost 30 years. In the beginning, they were told they played too many videos, now they are known for not playing
enough videos. Mtv also made way for many music shows. Because of its recognition, more music videos were being played by other stations.
Some of these were HBO's Video Jukebox, WTBS aired Night Tracks, ABC came out with ABC Rocks and VH1 got its start. There was a lot of
history making events in the eighties with music. In 1980, the legendary John Lennon of the Beatles was murdered. On May 11, 1981, the
popular Reggae music star, Bob Marley died. In 1982, Michael Jackson's album, Thriller is released. In 1983, the first music CD is sold. In 1984,
Marvin Gaye dies, Prince's first film, Purple Rain is debuted, Michael Jackson gets burned in a Pepsi commercial and Tina Turner makes a
comeback. In 1985, Whitney Houston releases her first album and the popular song, "We Are the World" is produced. In 1988, music CDs outsells
vinyl records. In 1989, Milli Vanilli wins the Best New Artist Grammy and then has it taken away because they were caught lip synching. It's hard to
talk about music today without bringing up music from the eighties. Some of the artists today got their ideas and musical talent from watching their
idols from that decade. For example, Usher credits his dancing and musical talent from Michael

Self–Promotion and Celebrity Endorsements of Healthy Lifestyles
In his book Celebrity and Power: Fame in Contemporary Culture, P. David Marshall states "The close scrutiny that is given to celebrities is to
accentuate the possibility and potential for individuals to shape themselves unfettered by the constraints of a hierarchical society" (246). Therefore,
celebrities are seen as role models for a lifestyle that might never be fully attainable by the average person, but can be imitated. What is ironic then is
that following a celebrity–endorsed lifestyle does not create individuality, but reduces it. While celebrities endorse products, they also appear in
advertisements which promote a healthy lifestyle where through the abstinence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both phrases are denotationally persuasive, letting parent know that following what is said in the ad will lead to happy children and good parent–child
relationships. The way to achieve this is by reading the information, but also buying concert tickets and supporting the band. As well, near the bottom
of the advertisement, the tag line "We All Make a Difference" appears under the Budweiser logo. By adding this in, parents can also be persuaded to
enjoy the beer responsibly as the company projects itself through this advertisement as one that is concerned for the health and safety of children. In all
these ways, the linguistic messages of the advertisement go well beyond promoting the cause, but also promote the celebrity endorsers, and in this case,
the product which the advertisement is deterring children from.
The iconic messages in the advertisement are also at work to achieve the cross–promotional result. The non–coded Budweiser logo works in
conjunction with the tag line "We All Make a Difference" as discussed above, to promote the brand of beer. What is more interesting however, is the
use of the band's image as a coded message. Each of the five band members are looking directly at the reader, with serious expressions on their faces,

Hybrid Theory reached "Diamond Status" when their sales topped ten million (Leahey). Such an accomplishment allowed the album to be considered as
one of the most successful debuts ever (Leahey). Linkin Park later received three Grammys nominations for the debut album as well. In the 2000s,
Linkin Park not only received over sixty awards, but they also were nominated for a hundred and sixty–nine more (Leahey). It should also be taken
into consideration that the statistics listed below only refer to one of five albums. Some bands don't even reach Linkin Park's status of worth after
their first album when compared to their entire career. The amount of years that a band has been together does not necessarily mean they are better
or the best. For example, some of the bands that did not even come close to making the list have never even won a Grammy let alone been
nominated for one. Although many people have their own opinion as to what a good band entails, based upon the criteria that is created and

arguably the best rock band of the 2000s. There is no denying that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Not everyone is going to easily agree that
Linkin Park is the best rock band. On the other hand, based upon the criteria created, arguments can be made as to why they under some circumstances

The Hippie Aesthetic Era of Rock and Roll Essay
The hippie aesthetic era was an important time in rock and roll during the late 60's and on into the early 80's. It was a time were rock had a sense of
purpose. They sung about the issues that plagued the country. It was also a time where technology would play an important roll in the sound of music,
with the advancement in recording and synthesizer technology (Covach, "The Hippie Aesthetic"). The hippie aesthetic was not immune to the
advancement of music. This essay will go over three songs that represent the different aspects of this era. It'll will review a song that is predominately

AC/DC's "Back in Black", http://youtu.be/HQywr–PBR_o, was release just five months after their lead singer Bon Scott died ("Songfacts"). "Back in

Allegory Of The Cave Vs Plato's Cave
By writing The Allegory of the Cave or Plato's Cave, Plato tries to convey to people that they must escape the world of illusions and shadows and
look at it with other eyes because that is the only way that they can find the true view of the world. In other words what I mean by other eyes is
that people should see not only what is presented to them but see what is the real message hidden behind the illusion. People should think outside
the box in order to break away from the delusions and discover the reality. Plato's allegory tells us about people's way of thinking about the world.
In the essay I will explain why not everyone wants to open his or her eyes, how people are misguided by illusions, and why sometimes it is hard it
is to see the reality. To begin with, we as a people have the ability to see but not everyone actually sees things, and often we believe in what is
presented to us blindly. In the The Allegory of the Cave or Plato's Cave is written that "the power to learn is presented in everyone's soul and that the
instrument with which each learns is like eye that cannot be turned around from darkness to light without turning the whole body." By that he means
that everybody has the ability to learn things but not everybody wants to see learn them. In other words, the power to learn is ability that everybody
has but not everyone uses it properly. Plato's allegory reveals that "education is the craft concerned with doing this very thing, this turning around, and

Rhetorical Analysis Of How To Tie Your Shoes
"How to tie your shoes" published by Terry Moore on May 2011 at a Technology, Entertainment and Design (TED) presentation, humorously reveals
how people have tied their shoes one way for such a long period of time, that they forget that there are other "stronger" ways to do so. Moore explains
to the influential audience, how one little change can lead to other possible improvements and new paths by changing up our daily routines. Moore
demonstrates new improvements by using his credibility and common ground to show that a small advantage can yield tremendous results someplace

people who have shoes tied similar to his shoes. On the contrary, it particularly strengths his statement: "I lived the same sad life until about three
years ago... As it turns out, there's a strong form and a weak form of this knot" (Moore 1). This defends his credibility and he appears to be
knowledgeable through his humor, admitting he has tied them wrong; which provides more persuasive thought to his argument because of his long
experience of tying his shoes. Moore establishes common ground in the beginning of his TED talk, mentioning how he was just as shocked as the

but a reality–based gameshow. In October 1999, the network announced plans to develop Survivor, a show that would "place a group of Americans
on a desert island in the South China Sea, off Borneo, for 39 days." The contestants would vote each other off the island, one by one, until only the

thought. TV executives have become so desperate as to risk the lives of ordinary people simply for the ratings. There must be some law against that.
How could they get away with something as absurd as stranding 16 people on some remote tropical island with no food or protection?
But of course, nothing is as it seems at first. The deserted island off the South China Sea wasn't as deserted as CBS would have liked us to believe.
There was actually a resort on the opposite side of the island, not to mention all the production equipment and air–conditioned editing cabins that had to

Pop Song Analysis of Gorillaz, "Feel Good Inc" (2005) Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett stumbled upon the concept of Gorillaz while they were
watching MTV in their apartment; the duo found themselves growing weary of the formulaic, commercialized, uncreative, and empty format of the
pop music that they were listening to. In the words of Albarn and Hewlett, "if you watch MTV for too long, it's a bit like hell – there's nothing of
substance there...We're the generation whose stars come from Pop Idol and celebrity–wrestling shows. And it's all a bit like a cartoon, really...So we

How MTV Maintains Its Dominance Essay
How MTV Maintains Its Dominance Music Television, a basic cable service known by its acronym MTV, remains the dominant music video outlet
utilizing effective marketing and competitive business practices throughout its nineteen year history. The creation of the "I Want My MTV" marketing
campaign and use of the campaign throughout the 1980's helped the cable outlet secure a substantial subscriber base. MTV dealt with competition from
cable mogul Ted Turner's Cable Music Channel by creating a fighting brand, sister cable service VH–1, along with facing challenges by numerous
other music video programming services. Through exclusivity agreements with record labels for music videos and limiting access to cable systems

Programming the new music video outlet in this manner made it as familiar as format commercial radio, while presenting it using the medium of
television, to its young target audience.
The name of the new music video cable service began as TV–1, a name that Bob Pittman felt fit the "youthful arrogance" the channel embraced. With
little support for the name from other WASEC executives, an M representing music replaced the 1 in the name. The name eventually evolved into MTV,
Music Television.
With a name chosen for the new cable outlet, Fred Seibert, the Director of On–Air Promotion, was charged with commissioning a logo for MTV.
Manhattan Design, the studio hired by Seibert, eventually developed the logo still used by the channel today: a large block "M" with a small "TV"
that looks spray painted on. Many in Sales and Marketing at WASEC thought the logo left much to be desired, with one executive asking Seibert if he
thought it would endure as long as the CBS eye. Almost two decades later, the MTV logo is arguably one of the most recognizable pop culture icons.
A video of the Buggle's "Video Killed the Radio Star" marked the launch of MTV at 12:01 AM August 1, 1981. Jack Banks notes in Monopoly

The negative effects of MTV on our society and culture
What do you think about when you hear the word MTV? Carson Daily counting down the top ten on Total Request Live? Bam Margera doing insane

world through its negative influence on society and culture.
MTV has in many ways corrupted our youths and American culture with shows such as Jackass, with their dangerous acts of stupid ness, and Marilyn

Not only is violence a major issue, but sexual content and foul language is a huge part of MTV's line up. Shows like The Real World and Spring Break
fantasies and Making The Band display sexual content and profanity on a regular basis. They make it seem like violence, sex and profanity are ok in
our society, like it's the cool thing to do. There's no question that TV influences the attitudes and perceptions of young viewers, and MTV is deliberately
marketing its raunchy material to millions of innocent children .This is why more parents are not allowing their children to watch MTV or any of their
sister channels.
In either case the music industry introduced both the idea of violence and sex and should take responsibilities for their actions. Many believe that
political action should be taken to regulate the sales of music with explicit content. In states such as Washington the Harmful Materials to Minors Bill
would create "adults only" sections in music stores. In New York a bill proposed in March would prohibit the sale of music to minors with lyrics
describing drugs, rape, murder, violence, racism, or religious violence. One can argue that these laws would be a major blow to the first amendment
but beyond legal problems are more serious issues pertaining to the social responsibility of the music industry and the increasing violence in American

Compare And Contrast A Streetcar Named Desire And Water
A Streetcar Named Desire and "Water" examine the world and how people handle the harsh reality of things. A Streetcar Named Desire follows
Blanche Dubois, a southern belle forced out into a cold world, who moves in with her sister Stella and her abusive husband Stanley Kowalski.
Blanche inevitably is at odds with Stanley, who she views as common filth and primal. Stanley determined to not allow Blanche steal Stella from
him and exact revenge he pulls up dirt on her and ruins her chances with Mitch. At the same time, one wants to dislike Blanche's lies and actions,
one must pity her and feel bad that the world has made her like this. By the end of the play, Stanley emerges victorious: he has won back Stella, has
a baby, molested Blanch and sent her to a mental hospital. The conflict was not even close as Stanley uses the cruel world to his advantage. The poem
"Water" by Robert Lowell does not follow a similar storyline, yet contains various thematic similarities. The poem is about a young man and woman
whose relationship is being tested and eventually it falls apart. The two find themselves powerless to stop incessant waves that destroyed their
relationship. The play, A Streetcar Named Desire, by Tennessee Williams, and "Water", by Robert Lowell, assert that people are powerless to change
time nor their own mortality, the world is an unforgiving and cruel place, and reality cannot be ignored.

It was a way to just sit there and sort of zone out and forget the troubles of the day. However, now more and more people are sitting down at night
and watching reality television shows. Reality television shows are less relaxing than the sitcoms people use to watch. They involve the audience
more, such as with voting for your favorite contestant on "American Idol" or getting angry or upset with a person for something they have done to
your favorite person on "Survivor". Whether it is physically or emotionally involved, when people are watching reality television they are definitely
involved. So since the introduction of reality television people have started watching more reality TV and less sitcoms because most people prefer to
be involved in their TV shows rather than just watch them. One negative effect that reality television can have on people is deceptive view of reality.
Such as kids who watch shows like Jersey Shore which can lead them to believe life is one big party. MSN Encarta defines reality TV as "television
programs that present real people in live, though often deliberately manufactured, situations and monitor their emotions and behavior." Which means
what they portray as reality is not really how things happen in the real world (Woods, N.D.). Another negative effect is antifamily values. Many critics

Unfortunately most Reality TV shows will leave their garbage behind for someone else to pick up. There is an increasing rate of lawsuits against
these shows that have left emotional scars on the participants. People who have been cast out of certain Show have to be rehabilitated after being in
the show. One woman, Paula Goodspeed, committed suicide, after being rejected from American Idol. The judges Simon, Paula, and Jerry didn't agree
that the girl's singing skill were good enough for the show; therefore after criticizing her Paula went and ended her life near one of the judge's homes.
Some people disagree with Reality TV being detrimental. In "The Case for Reality TV" Michael Hirschorn argues why Reality TV is beneficial to
society. He begins by saying more people had watched American Idol, the previous week than the state of the union address on the broad cast

Jersey Shore Summer is the pinnacle of almost every American's vacation time. Warm weather, beaches, Fourth of July, and summer parties. This might
not be the reality of most American's summer, but it is for the cast of "Jersey Shore." Jersey Shore is a reality television show, which was aired by MTV

Their lyrics influence children everyday and they should be regulated in some shape or form. Overall
Young people should not have to listen to violent lyrics and vulgar music being produced by musicians and record producers. That modest warning
label on the corner of the CD cover is not as effective as one would think. If the musicians would cut those offensive lyrics out of the music, young
people would not have the idea of running into a school and shooting random people just to feel better about themselves. They would not get the
idea to kill themselves from their favorite band. They would not be bombarded with ideas and mental pictures of raping women. Vulgar lyrics are
all around in all types of music genres, from country, to rap, to rock n' roll, to alternative. Musicians should not have to write music about drugs and
alcohol, and sex, and violence to sell their albums. Violent lyrics are a major problem in today's society. Solving this problem will be very difficult

Parents are strongly encouraged to take an active role in monitoring music that their children and adolescents are exposed to and which they purchase.

The Glass Menagerie Essay
Tennessee Williams uses the character Amanda in "The Glass Menagerie" to express the attitude of how proper young men and woman should carry
themselves. Amanda's attitude towards her children sets the stage for their unhappy lives. Her refusal to accept her children for who they are has led
to Tom drinking during the evenings and Laura having social anxiety. "The Glass Menagerie" reflects the social norms, roles, and values of the 1940's
when it was written. It depicts woman as helpless and unable to provide for themselves, while men should be focused on furthering their careers and
providing for the family. Amanda believes that a young woman of Laura's age should be attending social events and getting schooling till she can
attract a gentlemen caller who will provide for her. Finally, she believes that Tom should be concerned with furthering his career to provide a better
life for Laura and herself since he became the man of the house once his father left. Amanda's attitude displays the social norms during the 1940's and
sets the framework for Laura's disappointing meeting with a gentleman caller as well as Tom Leaving.

This brochure will be about a thorough guide for parents/caregivers who may have teenagers that are suffering from anxiety or for parents who
think their child may fall under this category sooner or later. It will give them insight on what exactly anxiety is, what Xanax is, and how effective it
can be in treating and helping their child. Not only will it be a medical health brochure but parents can also decide to 'ring' the company if they need
help in assisting their child. It also answers my question as it gives you all the necessary information needed on how it is helping their child cope with
their anxiety. I decided to call my company name the 'Medical Health Centre'. I decided this as I thought it sounded very reassuring to parents when ...

Also, before any of this it is important that you try other treatment beforehand. These other treatments may include meditation, eating healthier, sleeping
earlier, and could improve your child's health beneficially without the use of medications which could lead to many risks later for your child's health .
Xanax can also be combined with these treatments for optimum success in your child's health.
Xanax (Alprazolam), may be the most useful way to help your child slowly recover from their anxiety. Using this medication will ensure the fastest
method of recovery in helping them cope the easiest.
What is Xanax?
Xanax, commonly known as Alprazolam, belongs to a group of drugs called benzodiapine . Benzodiazepines are a group of drugs called minor
tranquilisers, often referred to as benzos. It is a treatment used in primarily treating anxiety disorders, panic attacks and is the single most prescribed
medication in the United States showing statistics of 90% of patients who consumed it are now doing well . Xanax works by decreasing abnormal
chemicals in the brain of people who are suffering from anxiety; it also acts on the brain's central nervous system producing a calming effect. It slows
down the movement of the brain chemicals that may have been unbalanced, resulting in a reduction of nervous tension and anxiety.

In 2014, Viacom profit margin was 30%, highest in 5 years, whereas the peer group average was 25%. This higher value of profit margin can be
attributed to the increase in the revenue generated from their media network segment, mainly from advertising and affiliate revenues. There was a
significant 20% increase from international advertising due to acquisition of Channel 5 Broadcasting Limited (UK), however, the other revenue was
driven by news channels, MTV Italy, and improvement in European markets. Moreover, its affiliate revenue was increased remarkably by $415 million
because of higher fees rate, as well as the benefit of distribution agreements. In contrast to income, Viacom had reduced their overall expenses by $257
million, however, they had incurred more expenses for their media network component. Company's media network segment expenses increased by
$340 million in comparison to prior year mainly due to higher operating and selling, general & administrative expenses. This increase in expenses was
attributed to their investment in the original content and programming cost. Distribution expenses were also increased due to higher participations
expense and costs from news channels in international markets. They also spent lot of money in advertising and promotional expenses to market their
original programmes. Overall, Viacom had an outstanding performance in

Analyzing The Video 'The Gadget Lover'
Humanity currently lives in a digital society. Over the past century, humans have grown accustomed to observing the world through screens. However,
as Marshall McLuhan points out in "The Gadget Lover", there is a dissonance between a person's existence onscreen and a person's existence in
reality. People become attached to mere representations of reality rather than reality itself, much like how the character of Narcissus falls in love with
his own reflection in Greek mythology. McLuhan implies that we should observe technological growth to ensure that we do not become numbed by
devoting our lives to images. Humans use technology as if the effects of using the technology are separate from reality. For example, people often use

This world even has noticeable "characters", such the man picking up left–over litter from the off–campus housing event or the two people who sat on
the bench talking for hours. This world is real and relatable, but the video is purposely edited to make it seem artificial. The viewer is supposed to
feel isolated but still related to the world, which I attempted to enforce by taking pictures at different angles rather than using a tripod. If the video
were completely still, the observer behind the camera would not be a human character. Rather, the video would just feel like watching security camera
footage, and the viewer would likely not feel a connection to anything going on below. Adding the jerky camera movements enforces that the viewer is
supposed to feel negative emotions for being left out, and adding cross–fade transitions between the time–spans with no footage only continues to
disconnect the viewer from the realistic "world" of the MUSC atrium. The video enforces that a person's perception of reality is very different than a
person's perception of technology. When watching a video, a person can accept that large spans of time may not be seen, although in reality a person
is alive as every minute passes him or her by. There is no fast–forward button for reality. However, we still use technology to become observers who
ignore time and space. When people use the internet , they can avoid their own problems by avoiding being participants altogether. They can also
choose new avatars and participate in the creation of new worlds where there are minimal consequences for illicit behaviour, which leads to the creation
of multimedia. They use technology as the real world appears to pass them by, and the video reflects this idea by condensing 15 hours down to 50
seconds. People socialize face–to–face, and the world evolves, while the viewer, who is watching the video using

Zoga Research Paper

  • 1. Zoga Research Paper A day in the life of Zoga is quite weird. I start my day waking up super early when the sun has not come out yet. We hate light, just like vampires, we run away from it. Were just like them, we burn and die because of sunlight. You might ask yourself, well how and where do we spend our day, you'll find out in a little. As I was saying, we wake up super early, to get our morning food. Before we eat, we have to become the predator. We eat other bacteria, we use our big fake eyes to scare any of them who want to eat us, and then we will eat them. We move our legs fast like a cheetah. That scares them a lot, so then we eat them and save some of the food in our cheek pouch for the rest of the day. A really small amount can last us a day, we have a really fast metabolism so we are always moving. We then get in a huge pack of Zoga's and travel together into... We respond to everything that is around us. When it's getting too hot for us, we go outside real carefully or were burned to death. Our skin is very sensible. One by one, we all have 3 seconds to go outside and run back in our home. When it gets too cold, we all get in a pack to stay warm. We cant see, so we feel our way around. Luckily, we have fake eyes. Our eyes are specifically made to scare predators away. This is called stimulus. Our species all have the same DNA or same genetic code. DNA is kinda of a molecular blueprint for a living thing. • 2. The Reality Of Television Shows This Is What The Reality Of TV Is. The popularity of reality TV shows lately do not amaze me, in the society today, people admire excessive pride than high moral standards. A lot of shows which need to be cancelled portray and teach a lot of bad behaviors. Although these reality TV shows may make us laugh or even amaze us with its characters, who are bad influences to the society especially children. These shows gives us a picture of how people are drastically driven by the love of money, fame and riches instead of the power of love of people for each other. The indecent and improper behavior being displayed by these characters are not to be emulated because it has a negative effect on the society, especially on children because the promote the use of drugs, alcohol and foul languages. Reality shows such as Jersey Shore and Real World on MTV promote nothing but alcoholism. People get hired just to have fun, involving alcohol. People get the wrong impression of how to act and behave, making them think that the only way to have fun is by drinking alcohol and getting drunk. Most people in the society today believe that alcohols consumed on shows make it seem cool or fun to drink and get drunk. A reality show producer, Kurt Reams, once said that the rate and amount at which Tv stars consume alcohol is ridiculous that most viewers could get influenced which is a wrong idea. ... • 3. Music Censorship Essay Music Censorship Healthy debates have been caused by today's music. Generally, foul language has rapidly increased within modern popular song lyrics, especially among rap and heavy metal artists' songs. An increase in explicit violence and misogyny in popular music lyrics has been recorded. These lyrics have been judged to be inspirations for violent, suicidal, and criminal acts. For example, Mr. Raymond Kuntz referred to his son's incident. ''When his wife went to wake their son for school, they found him dead of a gunshot wound, still wearing his headphones with Marilyn Manson's Anti–Christ Superstar CD still in the player. The boy's favorite song was ''The Reflecting God (Nina Crowley, ''Senate Hearings on Music, Newsgroup at page 2,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... C. Records in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. On June 8, 1990 he sold the '2 Live Crew' album, 'As Nasty as They Wanna Be', to an undercover police officer and was arrested (Baris 4).'' The youth is obviously not fully protected if storeowners do not follow the restrictions. The most popular music of children under the age of twenty–one is rap and heavy metal, which are the two leading participants in the foul language controversy (Volz 18). Knowing this, storeowners should heavily enforce the underage laws. However, One American boy noted the ease of buying profane music albums in spite of his age of fifteen years (Crowley). If storeowners continue to sell obscene heavy metal and rap music to under aged children, then the society will only worsen. I believe this foul music should be much further restricted from people that it could harm. The younger citizens of America are most influenced by today's music; therefore the restriction levels that have been placed upon it should be enforced. Obviously the laws are not yet strong enough to deny young people of the possession of profane music. Children still obtain ''stickered'' CD's, despite the child's age. If this awful music is available to minors, society will not improve its youth's attitude. ''During the last decade or so in the United States, many people have expressed concern that rap music – especially rap with violent or misogynic lyrics – – is harmful to not only the youth of ... • 4. Sociology: Sexual Objectification of Women in Music Videos... The Research Problem This study works to examine the use of sexual objectification of women in music videos today. The primary purpose was to examine the differences between genres, specifically hip–hop and country. I tested the following; Women are more likely to be sexualized in hip–hop music videos than in country music videos. Literature Review Since the explosion of music videos in 1981, a large portion of their popularity has been due to the objectification of women and their sexuality. "Early content analyses showed that anywhere from 40% to 75% of music videos contained sexual imagery"(Arnett, 2002). Hip–hop music videos especially have a reputation of degrading women. In these videos "women are often depicted in positions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Videos not containing a female were accounted for and removed from the sample pool, leaving a total of 50 (25 hip–hop, 25 country) videos used for the final analysis. Data Collection Sexual objection and non–sexual objectification were mainly measured in body exposure and body movements. The different areas of a woman's body being displayed were used to operationalize the idea of sexual objectification. Similarly, camera angles such as panning down bodies and shots down shirts were tallied to create a solid definition of "sexualizing" for the purpose of this research. (see Appendix A and B) Each video was watched twice, to ensure that no characteristics were missed. Videos were analyzed through the use of sexual characteristics and non–sexual characteristics tally sheets. When a specific characteristic was present it would only be marked down once per video. Because the focus of this research was on sexualization of women, only females were identified and coded. Justification of Research Method The strategy of secondary analysis was chosen for this research because it is cheap and timely in comparison to other forms of research. Using data collected by other reliable sources increases the validity of secondary data analysis research. Findings Data Analysis from the 50 music video sample showed that hip–hip music videos sexually objectified women more in comparison to country music videos. This is a way to connect the reader to characters or situations in the novel, making a false story seem more realistic. In the book Ruthless by Carolyn Lee Adams, a 17 year old girl named Ruth was kidnapped by a man named Jerry. He took Ruth to the woods and though she managed to escape him, she still remained lost in the woods with no way to get home. With Jerry at her heels, she plotted ways to escape the woods, but that didn't stop the fear of being recaptured to continue to loom over her. The growing lack of empathy and fear throughout Ruthless, are two real world concepts that were incorporated into this novel as a parallel to our society. The fear that Ruth feels throughout the story resembles the fear that many people feel due to terrorist attacks today. In the story, Ruth is in constant fear for her life because she is lost in the woods with a man that wants to kill her. While struggling to figure out how she was going to escape the woods, Ruth expressed, "All I have now is rage. But somewhere, hiding underneath it, is fear (Adams 84)." Ruth still feels fear because even though she escaped Jerry's captivity, she's still lost in the woods, and and she knows there's a very good chance of him finding her and killing her as he planned. Similar to the fear portrayed in the book, many people today have a fear of terrorism. An article on hate crimes against Muslims states, "Incidents targeting Muslims increased each of the last several years after fluctuating for a decade following a strong spike in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.(1)" According to statistics, hate crimes against Muslims were very low prior to 9/11, but they reached an all time high once the attacks took place. In the years that followed, the hate crimes kept a common trend of occurring about 5–6 times as much as they had before 9 /11. The fact that Muslims went from hardly being attacked before the attacks to having almost 500 hate crimes against them in 2001, showed that many of their attackers were motivated by their fear of more potential attacks. The lack of empathy shown in the story by both the kidnapper and the couple living in the woods, paralleled the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Michael Jackson Research Paper The start of MTV (Music Television) and the invention of CD, cassettes, boom boxes, and the Walkman in the 1980s revolutionized and popularized the music industry. The MTV catalyzed the shift of focus from music and lyrics to fashion, theatrics, and image. Celebrity gossip became a prominent factor in daily life as stars were remodeled into brands. New music genres also snatched the popular stage, including pop, hip hop, new wave, and hair metal. Known as the "King of Pop," Michael Jackson was a singer, dancer, and songwriter whose 1980s hits soared the charts. "Beat It," "Billie Jean," and "Thriller," songs that remain famous even today, represent his fanaticism with theatrics – as his music videos were long with dialogue, featured popular artists and actors, and conveniently gave him the chance to display his self–created dance moves, such as the well–known Moonwalk. Sure, there are females that rap, sure there are other ground–breaking studio productions that were a work of art in and of itself, and sure rappers use lyrics that connect to relationships, politics, faith, and cultural criticism, but not like the famous Lauryn Hill. Allegory Of The Cave Vs Plato's Cave By writing The Allegory of the Cave or Plato's Cave, Plato tries to convey to people that they must escape the world of illusions and shadows and look at it with other eyes because that is the only way that they can find the true view of the world. In other words what I mean by other eyes is that people should see not only what is presented to them but see what is the real message hidden behind the illusion. People should think outside the box in order to break away from the delusions and discover the reality. Plato's allegory tells us about people's way of thinking about the world. In the essay I will explain why not everyone wants to open his or her eyes, how people are misguided by illusions, and why sometimes it is hard it is to see the reality. To begin with, we as a people have the ability to see but not everyone actually sees things, and often we believe in what is presented to us blindly. In the The Allegory of the Cave or Plato's Cave is written that "the power to learn is presented in everyone's soul and that the instrument with which each learns is like eye that cannot be turned around from darkness to light without turning the whole body." By that he means that everybody has the ability to learn things but not everybody wants to see learn them. In other words, the power to learn is ability that everybody has but not everyone uses it properly. By the end of the play, Stanley emerges victorious: he has won back Stella, has a baby, molested Blanch and sent her to a mental hospital. The conflict was not even close as Stanley uses the cruel world to his advantage. The poem "Water" by Robert Lowell does not follow a similar storyline, yet contains various thematic similarities. They involve the audience more, such as with voting for your favorite contestant on "American Idol" or getting angry or upset with a person for something they have done to your favorite person on "Survivor". Whether it is physically or emotionally involved, when people are watching reality television they are definitely involved. So since the introduction of reality television people have started watching more reality TV and less sitcoms because most people prefer to be involved in their TV shows rather than just watch them. Amanda's attitude towards her children sets the stage for their unhappy lives. Her refusal to accept her children for who they are has led to Tom drinking during the evenings and Laura having social anxiety. "The Glass Menagerie" reflects the social norms, roles, and values of the 1940's when it was written. However, as Marshall McLuhan points out in "The Gadget Lover", there is a dissonance between a person's existence onscreen and a person's existence in reality. People become attached to mere representations of reality rather than reality itself, much like how the character of Narcissus falls in love with his own reflection in Greek mythology. McLuhan implies that we should observe technological growth to ensure that we do not become numbed by devoting our lives to images. The viewer is supposed to feel isolated but still related to the world, which I attempted to enforce by taking pictures at different angles rather than using a tripod. If the video were completely still, the observer behind the camera would not be a human character. Rather, the video would just feel like watching security camera footage, and the viewer would likely not feel a connection to anything going on below. Adding the jerky camera movements enforces that the viewer is supposed to feel negative emotions for being left out, and adding cross–fade transitions between the time–spans with no footage only continues to disconnect the viewer from the realistic "world" of the MUSC atrium. The video enforces that a person's perception of reality is very different than a person's perception of technology. When watching a video, a person can accept that large spans of time may not be seen, although in reality a person is alive as every minute passes him or her by. There is no fast–forward button for reality. However, we still use technology to become observers who ignore time and space. When people use the internet , they can avoid their own problems by avoiding being participants altogether. They can also choose new avatars and participate in the creation of new worlds where there are minimal consequences for illicit behaviour, which leads to the creation of multimedia.
