Unit 18 – Advertising – EVALUATION
Zephyr Advertising:
Our team was greatat deciding the name of Zephyr Advertising and gave our
company great individuality. Our team working well with each other was
cemented when Rory’s idea of Zephyr was greatly received by the rest of us.
Zephyr means smooth, gentle, breeze etc. Therefore incorporated whatwe
wanted the productto promote.
The logo was the best of both ideas fromme and Stan. The interconnected
logo worked very well as it had a Phoenix featured which rising which shows
our company as powerfuland imaginative and the logo was catchy and worked
for our company.
Notice the font of my
original idea. Myself and Stan incorporated each other’s logo ideas at the
favour of the other two, to create a logo with the bestof both. The best font
and the best symbolmade for in my opinion a very effective company logo.
QUANTIC FRESH
Once unanimously deciding our productwould be water, we researched
different water companies such as Evian and Fuji. Evian’s design encouraged
and prompted us to go for calm and a ‘cleanse’ like theme, while Fujigave us
an idea for an oriental theme to it. I was personally very proud of the name
‘Quantic Fresh’ as the ‘Quantic’ part was my idea and thankfully was well

appreciated by the rest of my group. The name worked brilliantly as it
conveyed well the crisp and elegant way the water presents on. The name
‘Quantic’ is easy to say and has a crisp overtoneto its stylewhen spoken.
This name works wellas it is unique, intriguing and is certainly a stand out
name. Itcaptures the ‘fresh’ natureof our productand therefore was perfect
for us and there are no regrets concerning the name.
There was another possibleidea for our waters name. As a result of our
oriental theme, an oriental name was considered. However this wouldn’thave
been easy as many of the oriental names weredifficult to pronounce, we
didn’t wantour productto put people off before they had even seen it. Thus
‘Quantic Fresh’ was well chosen.
How we got on as a group
As ‘Team Zephyr’ I believe we had a very strong and talented team. We all
decided between ourselves who would tackle certain tasks and this was
effective as it showed how our group was unique as we would justget on with
the assigned task. However during the filming we did have a problem.
Originally we had decided that Elishia would portray the protagonistof the
filmed advert, with her consent. Although when filming began Elishia became
reluctant to portray the role and thereforewe left with a problem. Despite the
initial worry, this would lead to a brilliant decision made by Elishia to persuade
Mr Drummond to portray ‘The Quantic Monk’ himself. This massively
benefited our piece as Mr Drummond had the right look and presence for the
role, thus making us thank not only him but Elishia also.

MY ROLE
My personalview on my role within my group is mixed. I personally believe
while I did make a positive impact on the group I could havepotentially been
more involved in the filming of the advert. While Rory’s passion for the camera
work was admirable, I thought it would havebeen better if the camera work
had been shared equally. Nonetheless I was very happy with my on screen role
in the group as part of the advert. The element of comedy worked well and it
was something I felt comfortable doing and thus broughtout the best in me,
and my performance. OverallI was happy over my role in the team but I do
believe that I could have done slightly more.

Print Advert:
I was very pleased with our group’s finalprint advert as it worked brilliantly
with what wewere trying to communicate, simple, elegant, old but new and
‘fresh’. Wewere very gratefulto Rory who brilliantly captured the idea of
‘Quantic Fresh’, managing to integrate the themes and conventions of what we
wanted our productto be and whatpeople look for in a water product. Itwas
professionally doneand we couldn’thave been happier by this wonderfulprint
advert.

The Pitch:
OverallI believe that the group pitch wentbrilliantly as we felt confident going
into it and therefore wereconfident while doing. We decided to split our
speaking into equal parts as it would showcaseall us equally. Our questions
were answered confidently and we gaveI believe a wonderfulaccount for
ourselves. Wereceived a nice applausefrom our fellow classmates who I
believe warmed to our passion over the productwe had created. Although I do
believe I could havemade an improvementor two to my personal
performance. I think that I could stuck to the script more as I more or less
forgotit was there and missed some information out. However I believe we did
a fantastic job at our pitch and that is cemented by us all received the highest
accolade of a Distinction which felt great. Below are photos taken during our
pitch.

Anything I could change?
I personally believe weproduced a productthat was a great representation for
Unit 18. However if I could change anything it would be the oriental theme
being present throughoutour Unit. This is becausewe had multiple print
adverts that did not include the sourceof the water as ‘MountHotaka’ in
Japan, as rather ‘Blanc Montagne’ in France. Thus our print adverts contain
incorrect information and if I were to do this again I would make the oriental
theme constantand set it out at the very beginning of the productcreation
process.
