Combustion, oxidation and fermentation
This document discusses three types of chemical reactions: combustion, oxidation, and fermentation. Combustion or burning occurs when a fuel such as wood or oil reacts with oxygen, turning the fuel into ashes/smoke or kinetic energy/gases. Oxidation is the reaction of oxygen with another substance like iron or food, producing rust or browning of food. Fermentation is caused by fungi and bacteria changing organic substances into other products like alcohol or lactic acid, and it is used to produce foods and drinks through natural and preservation processes.

In oxidation, oxygen reacts with a substance when the substance is exposed to air. It happens in iron, foods, etc. Iron oxidation During iron oxidation, the new substance that we get is called RUST. During food oxidation, the oxygen turns the food brown.
