WEATHER AND
CLIMATE
BY ANDRÉS
ARÉVALO
WEATHER
It is the minute-by-minute change of the
atmosphere. Weather changes every
day. For example, today it is stormy in
this beach but...
… it will be sunny next day in
the same beach.
CLIMATE
It is what the
weather is like
over a long
period of time in
a specific place.
Climate does
not change
every day.
The factors that are involved in the
weather are:
TEMPERATURE
HUMIDITY
WIND
PRECIPITATION
TEMPERATURE
What is it?
It is to measure how
cold or hot the air is.
What do we use?
We use a thermometer to
measure temperature.
We have two scales for
temperature:
Celsius scale (ºC)
Farenheit scale (ºF)
HUMIDITY
It is the quantity of
water vapour in the
atmosphere.
What do we use?
We use a hygrometer to
measure humidity.
WIND
What is it?
It is moving air that
can move at
different speeds
and directions.
What are the categories of
wind?
Breeze
Gale wind
Hurricane
BREEZE
GALE
WIND
HURRICANE
What do we use?
We use an anemometer to
measure wind speed.
PRECIPITATION
What is it?
It is water that falls to
the ground from the
atmosphere. It can be:
- Liquid
- Solid
LIQUID AS RAIN
SOLID AS SNOW
OR HAIL
What do we use?
We use a rain gauge to
measure precipitation
NEW WORDS:
Thermometer Termómetro
Hygrometer Higrómetro
Anemometer Anemómetro
Rain gauge Pluviómetro
Breeze Brisa
Gale wind Vendaval
Hurricane Huracán
Measure (d) Medir
Wind speed Velocidad del viento
