2. First Option
When me and my group first discussed location, I thought about this house just down the
road from college which I've been to before. This house (as shown below) at the time I first
encountered it just appeared to be an abandoned house. But as seen below it is now locked.
As when we first discussed we needed a house that appeared to be abandoned and isolated,
this seemed like a good idea and option at the time, as we were not specific as to what extent
we needed the house for. For example, firstly we just mentioned we needed to use the door
because most part of our trailer was going to occur in the 'forest' with Hansel
and Gretel.
Personally, after visiting the house myself I realized this option did not seem to be as
great any more Reason being it is too close to the main road, so when filming we could
have cars, people walking past etc. Also, evidently everyone can see it is locked so I don't see
how we could manipulate that with camera works, editing etc.
3. Second Option
And once again, just on the same road
down from college, I came across this black
door from a building (it was not a home) and if we
was only going to need a house to use the door
with the witch scene, perhaps we could ask the
'people' (whoever works there).
This option, seemed better than the previous as it's
not as close to the main road as we have all that
space and it would be a dark place which we could
make it look even more mysterious (as possible)
4. Meeting
We sat down and discussed other possibilities we could use for our location and our
homework for that weekend was to go out and scout for locations. On the following
Monday, in our morning lesson we came back all three with different ideas and all
was shared with the group for feedback and opinion.
Raissa during her scout, came across Horse Guards Parade. She explained her
reason why it would suit our trailer and described the place. During our meeting we
researched the place and looked at some photographs (Google Maps) and we could
understand why Raissa saw the potential in that place to be in our trailer.
5. Horse Guards
Parade
This is the location Raissa found and set her eye on. To us the location seemed ideal,
the setting and everything with it. The trees to link in with the forest and to create that
dark, mysterious atmosphere.
Once we decided we was willing too use this location for our trailer. It was time to get in
touch with whoever was responsible for this place.
At the start of the next week, after scouting a few other places with no success we was
determined to use this one. And that's when everything went downhill, even though
to use this place we had to inform/book within seven days in advance, and only to be used on
Wednesdays Which to us didn't see like a problem because we all (including characters)
finish early on wednesdays, so it'd give us all afternoon to get our filming done.
And even though it was in the afternoon, it was not a problem because in winter it gets dark
quick, so we could still have that mysterious
setting etc.
The main issue was that to use this location, the fee was £500, even for a student project.
And ofcourse we do not have that funding, so that was off limits.
6. Final decision!
- @Clapham Common Park
It seems that the ideal place was closer to us than we thought and we didn't have to
look no further. A 10 minute walk from college, public, easy to access, no time limit,
no fees etc. We found this area and it would fit what we wanted it for. It was a little
'hidden' area, forest like with enough space for running scenes etc
This would not only benefit us, as it would save us travelling time. We did not need to
travel far with equipment and cameras, no booking time so we could film 'til whatever
time we wanted to. Easy to find, local and also would benefit the characters,
depending if they had other places to be, or lessons after a small filming session it
would be easy and quick to get back to college with no hassle.
