The document discusses location options for filming a thriller trailer. It considers places like woods, abandoned houses, empty rooms, and warehouses but rejects them for various reasons like being unrealistic, not suiting the genre, or not representing the narrative well. It ultimately chooses a teenage girl's bedroom as the setting. The pink, white and purple colored bedroom with feminine touches and school books would make the audience initially see her as a normal teenager before revealing her as the antagonist, building tension and surprise.
2. After researching into pre-existing thriller trails and
conducting our own research we developed ideas
into places in which we could possibly film in that
would best suit our narrative. We noticed that
during trailers only one to three locations are
normally shown, this may be because trailers
normally last around 2 minutes, so during this time
it allows the audience to get a general idea about
the films narrative and its setting.
3. After we considered using potential location, we decided to only use one as we
believe this would best suit our narrative and also best represent our genre.
Below are the location we considered but decided not to use:
0 Wood-We considered using this as it best represents a thriller and is normally
associated with thriller film. However we decided not to use this as its cliché and
would be hard to include in our narrative.
0 Abandoned house- We decide that this would have an eerie aspect and would suit
our theme of obsessions well, however, we wouldn’t have access to a abandoned
house so it was unrealistic to use.
0 Empty rooms - We considered using this as we could build our potential
narrative around this ,however, it wouldn’t be the best as it wouldn’t represent the
genre of thriller and wouldn't be attracting towards our target audience.
0 Warehouse-We believe this location would be good to use for our trailer as it
gives off eerie vibes and we could build up on our narrative in this location,
however, we wouldn’t have access to this building.
0 Roads -We believe this location could off been used for a short period of time
during our narrative as it adds verisimilitude , however, after finishing our narrative
this location didn’t fit in.
4. Chosen setting/Location
After careful consideration we decided the best location for our production would be
inside the antagonist bedroom, the setting being a teenage girls room. After
confirming our narrative and character we decide by using a teenage girls room and
her being the antagonist set the scene for the audience and we can clearly shown
our narrative as the girls obsession starts to grown shown through props in her room.
We believe this location would be the best as it is actually a teenage girls bedroom
allowing the setting to look realistic. The colours used are stereotypical pinks,
whites , purple etc. The bedroom have feminine touched and typical teenage stuff
e.g. school books etc. This will make the audience first believe she is a typical
teenager.
By having this location as the setting for our film it helps build verisimilitude as the
audience are lead to first believe she is a normal teenage shown through her room.
We could include a plot twist here as the audience would then start to see her as the
antagonist helping to build tension.
