2. Denholme Graveyard.
This location is an old graveyard that sits next to a
park in Denholme. It is overgrown showing that it is
old and makes the scene look dirty and unclean, this
contrasts with the purity of the children in the
scene. This location fits with the thriller genre.
We will see the children playing in this location,
this will establish their age to the audience, as well
as the fact that they are sisters.
I will record the actors jumping and singing in this
location, however I am going to use the 180 degree
rule, from the wall seen on the right of the top
image. This will allow me to have continuity in the
sequence, especially since there is a road behind this
wall. The cars and people on the road could damage
the continuity. This will be the most difficult part
about filming in this location, whereas if I stick to
the 180 degree rule and check the shots then the
location is perfect for my opening sequence.
I will record during the day. However, since it is
dark enough in the winter, I can still maintain the
dim and dark lighting. I also want it to be through
the day as we can then see the location properly.
Since there is hardly any dialogue, the image is very
important and I want to location, props and
costume to tell the story. So the audience needs to
see these details.
3. The advantages of using this location are that there
are trees, these represent winter and show the
significance of nature. Also the graveyard
contributes to the storyline as it represents the dead
and the ghostly atmosphere of the setting. Also it is
creepy that the graves are so close to the park. The
picture on the bottom shows a wall on the left. Over
this wall is the perk, this is my other location. It is
convenient that they are so close and it makes the
audience question why there is something so
innocent and pure next to a place that is so sinister.
This location as one reflects how childhood can be
disturbing.
I know that it may be difficult to establish to the
audience that the park and the graveyard are next to
each other, without breaking the 180 degree rule.
