5. PURPOSE
The purpose of this project is to give the people
an idea about what is common, why tragedy of
commons happen & how tragedy of commons
can be avoided.

6. AN OVERVIEW
In Uttara Model Town in Dhaka city, there is a place
named Ajompur. There is main road as well as a market
here. The market is a vegetable and fruit market. So, the
shops produce a high amount of waste materials. They
dump those wastes at the side of main road. Most of
those wastes are solid. Such as vegetables waste, fruits
waste etc. These solid wastes are approximately 60% of
the total waste. And 30% of the total waste is liquid
waste & 10% basket waste.

7. INTRODUCTON
The tragedy of the commons is a problem that
occurs when individuals exploit a shared
resource to the extent that demand overwhelms
supply and the resource becomes unavailable to
some or all.

9. PROBLEMS OF COMMONS
Many problems are occurring because of making
misuse of this common. There are given below:-
01. People face difficulties to cross the road because
of bad smell.
02. Traffic jam also occurs because of this.
03. People face difficulties while parking their cars.

10. SOLUTION :
These problems can be solved by doing the following
things:-
01.Personal action : If the shopkeeper and the people
living in that area stops dumping waste on the road on
their own , this problem can be solved. They should
dump the waste in the main road dustbin not in the
road.
02.Internal Governance : If this problem cannot be solve
by personal action, then the shopkeepers and people
living in that area can talk to each other and come to
an agreement about dumping wastes. They may set up
a committee which will roam around the area & fine
the individuals who are not listening to them.

11. SOLUTION :
03. External Governance:
 If talking does not work. Then they should talk to the
Commissioner of that area and tell him to make rules for
not throwing waste in that area. Arrangement of fine
should be there if needed.
 The commissioner can assign the individual property
among the shopkeeper & the local people. The
commissioner can allocate individual place for the
people to dump waste.

12. CONCLUSION
This tragedy of commons is very harmful for
people, environment & society. So, necessary
steps must be taken for avoiding this tragedy of
common immediately.
