British American Tobacco (BAT) started their journey as Imperial
Tobacco 103 years ago. The first factory in Bangladesh was set
up in 1949 at Fauzdarhut, in Chittagong. Before it was Pakistan
Tobacco Company but after 1972 it became Bangladesh
Tobacco Company Ltd. In 1998, the company changed its name
and identity to British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BAT
Bangladesh). It is a part of British American Tobacco plc, one of
the world’s most international businesses. It is a market leader
in more than 50 countries selling over 300 brands in some 180
markets worldwide with the strength of almost 90000
employees. Besides they hold 72.91% of their shares.
