1. What have you learnt about technologies from
the process of constructing this product?
2. Overall, I think I’ve learnt how to manage time
effectively. This is due to having several deadlines:
the deadline for the filming, the deadline for the
editing, the deadline for the blogs. All these
deadlines throughout have taught me that time
must be used effectively in order to get everything
done and well organised properly.
Moreover, I feel that I’ve learnt how to work with
others in stressful circumstances i.e. the planning,
filming, editing and evaluation of the final product.
3. Before filming the main task, I had only previously
handled the equipment once (for the preliminary
task) and so through the creation of the final
product, I have learnt how to properly and
effectively use equipment such as cameras and
lighting.
Leon and I split the handling of the camera in half,
but with the other person by their side. By this it is
meant that we more or less filmed all the shots
together. I personally wanted to film the shot of the
father walking as I am shorter and more flexible
than Leon and I can get on the floor easily and
more comfortably to film. I felt as if this shot
require an immense amount of effort as we could
not use the tripod and I was required to sit on the
floor and sit with the camera in my lap and film the
shot from there.
4. Leon and I also more or less edited the whole piece
together. Although I personally offered to spend
around 3 hours editing the last shot of the faces
merging as that day I had a double free in the
afternoon whereas Leon had lessons. This shot took
a particularly long time as we wanted the flashing
of the faces to get faster which meant I had to cut
the shots shorter (around 0.01 seconds) and
alternate the shots for it to last around 3 seconds.
This meant over 300 frames that all lasted for 0.01
seconds. This took me around 3 hours to edit
together and I am quite proud of editing that shot
alone as it took up a very long time and I feel as if I
did it well
5. During filming, we discovered many health and
safety issues. The main issue was pedestrians.
This was because we were using a knife and
many people passed us with worried looks on
their faces. We solved this by ensuring them it
was for a school project and that no one was to
be harmed. Another health and safety issue that
arose was the equipment and making sure no
one tripped over it. To resolve this, either Leon
or myself was always with the equipment and
ensured none of the actors tripped on it.
6. During our research, digital technology such as
YouTube, videos and various presentation
methods allowed us to present our research
and evaluation in many different ways.
Moreover YouTube and watching videos online
allowed us to research thrillers and encouraged
us to find inspiration online.
