4. HOW YOUTUBE HAS CHANGED THE
MUSIC INDUSTRY YouTube has enabled artists and other entertainment companies to have their own platform (channel)
within their extremely popular site for free.
This allows artists to reach a wide range of customers, quick and easy. Therefore expanding their
audiences greatly, whereas before YouTube their music and music videos had to be shown on TV channels
or other sites. This made it hard for small artists to get their music out, but now the huge platform and
number of viewers on YouTube makes it much easier for them to gather an audience.
Fans can now also interact with their favourite artists much easier, they can search for their songs, music
videos, interviews in a matter of seconds and then on these videos they can like, comment and share videos
with their friends and other fans. This allows fans to feel more connected with their favourite artists.
Record labels and YouTube work together in partnership
Since technology is getting more advanced, YouTube launched YouTube mobile in June 2007, allowing
customers to access videos anywhere and anytime on their phones, tablets, etc.
YouTube Red was launched in November 2014. YouTube Red is YouTube’s premium subscription service
which offers ad-free streaming, exclusive content, offline video playback on mobile devices and access to
the Google Play Music. This allows artists music which have agreed on a contract with YouTube to be
listened to by consumers whenever by paying the monthly fee of $10. This service has made access to
music much easier and quicker as in the past consumers used to have to buy physical copies of the albums
such as CDs.
5. UPLOADING TO YOUTUBE
Uploading content to YouTube is easy, all you need is your own
Google account which is now linked to YouTube (which is free) and
then your video that you want to upload with the click of a button it’s
uploading.
Because uploading is so easy and the majority of people in the 21st
century now have access to video equipment such as cameras, editing
software, etc. There’s so much more content available for consumers
to indulge in and whatever your tastes, you can probably find what
you’re looking for with over 81 million videos on YouTube and rising
daily.
This is why so many people choose to use YouTube as their choice
of platform for their content, and this is why I will be using YouTube
to upload our music video as it’s the most popular user video-
content website and it’s so simple with very few guidelines and
restrictions.
