2. Production Research
• By planning my production research I was able to begin
my music video production quicker because I was
planning ahead, production research also helped me
pick out the best equipment that I could use to film my
music video with and gave me the estimations on how
much it will cost.
• I will also be using the Mac Pro’s that the school will
supply to edit the music video and all of the raw footage
that I will be filming.
• I will be editing the music video in Adobe Premiere Pro
and use After Effects for several things that Premiere Pro
cannot do. This is because After Effects has more special
effects and options to choose from.
3. Audience Research
• By researching my audience I was able to gather
lots of information on what I should use in my music
video. And I discovered that the genre in which I
had chosen Pop is very popular and have lots of
conventions that I have learned to make the best
possible music video possible.
• Some of the conventions of a Pop music video
were; high key lighting, fast paced editing and
fashionable clothes.
• All of which I will try to convey in my music video.
4. Market Research
• Market Research was helpful to me in
understanding where was the best place to
promote my music video, as we did not have a big
budget and it costs lots of money to get a music
video onto a TV channel.
• So the simplest way we found that we could
promote our music video was to put it onto
YouTube as it seemed more convenient and lots of
people use it these days.
• YouTube is also the prime place to market the video
because it can be played at any time and they do
not have a set slot time like it would on the TV.
