The document discusses the design choices made for a magazine called Goldmine. The author looked at other independent magazines for inspiration on images, fonts, and incentives to include. On the front cover, the masthead is prominently featured to identify the magazine, and models look interactive to give a happy, fun feel. The main story is highlighted in bold font. Incentives are also included to encourage purchases. On interior pages, a model the same age as the target audience is featured to increase interest in artist interviews. Unformal writing style and appealing fonts make the content accessible. The contents page similarly features positive, indie-dressed artists in bold titles and fonts to attract readers.
2. I have looked a t other professional magazines that are indie and I have
looed at all the different designs. I have focused on the images, fonts
and incentives and I have tried to include them in my magazine in the
same way professional magazines do so that my target audience would
be interested in buying my magazine.
On my front cover I have made my masthead the main part of the page so it
appeals and stands out so people will recognise goldmine magazine
and will want to buy it. I have also made the models look at the camera
so they look like they are being more interactive and they look positive
to make the magazine look happy and fun. The main cover story is in a
different font that is bold so people will be that straight away and they
will wan to look for the main story in the magazine. I have also put
incentives on my magazine so people will want to buy my magazine
because of the offers or free things that come included with it.
3. On my double page spread have used a model that is the same age as my
target audience so that readers are interested and they will wan to find
out about what the artists will be doing next and what they say in there
interviews. Also because teenagers who are my target audience speak
quite unformal I have wrote like that in my magazine so it fits in with
them and they will understand while reading it and will enjoy the
language its written in. I have used appealing fonts that are different to
other magazines so readers can see something different and they will
be attracted because my magazine will be something different but is
still a indie magazine. Also the star of the magazine is one of the first
thing that a reader looks at so I have made them look positive and
happy and they are dressed indie so they fit in with the magazine and
they will make the readers interested as they are the artists that they
like to read about and hear about their latest music.
4. I have tried to attract the audience on my contents page by looking at other
contents pages of professional magazines and trying to create
something similar but in my own way so that people who like them
magazines would also be interested in buying mine. I have done this by
using images of the artists that are featured and they all look positive
and are dressed indie. They are also different sexes so that the market
opens for my magazine and more people will buy it. I have used bold
titles to show what they main content of my magazine is and what the
feature articles are. I have also used different fonts that are appealing
and fit in with the style of the magazine. The design is quite unformal
and fits in with what type of magazine I wanted to design and the colour
scheme fits in and I have used unisex colours like yellows and greys so
that everyone will be attracted to it. All the models are in their teens as
well so my target audience will wan to buy my magazine as people that
are their age are featured in it.
