How this magazine addressed its target audience
1. Question 5 – How did you
attract/address your audience?
2. For my magazine, decided to use a similar layout and style of Q magazine for my
double page spread. I liked how the image was on one side and the article on the
other. I however did not use the large initial of the artist across the page, instead I
used different colours for the question, and answer using the same colour scheme
through the rest of my magazine. My double page spread is not exactly like Q’s as I still
wanted a unique feel but I have taken inspiration form this layout design. Also Q has
similar target audience’s which is older teens and young adults. Since Q is a very
successful in attracting its chosen audience then using a similar layout would
potentially help me attract this audience too. Although I have tried to incorporate Q’s
style, I have also tried to use my own ideas to make it unique and stand out and more
fitted to my magazine in genre, audience, colours and style.
3. Audience feedback
“I think that Melodi is a very unique magazine and has original qualities like the
fonts and colours used which makes it stand out and makes me want to read it
more. I think that it would stand out on the shelves due to this. I like how the
colour scheme continues throughout the magazine which familiarises the
audience with the style of the magazine. It has information that kept me
entertained whilst reading it as the artists involved are all well known to
teenagers and young adults which attracted me to it and made it look
professional. I also liked the different font as they seemed to relate to the artist
on the front page, like Taylor Swifts font was very sophisticated and girly but
young at the same time. My criticism would be to use brighter colours to make
it stand out more, the colours used wasn’t bad but they seemed to dull a shade
for an upbeat magazine.

4. Audience feedback
When I first saw Melodi, what stood out for me was the creative fonts used for the
features, they seemed very effective and appealing which made me feel like I wanted
to read the inside of the magazine. The magazine is very suited to the music genre as
the celebrities involved are all of a similar style and they are in the charts now. This
helps to familiarise with the magazine as the people included are widely known. I
enjoyed the different features and I found it easy to read and it included the reader
which makes you feel welcomed, as does the images, they seem friendly and they look
straight at you which involves you more. However I think the quality of the photos
could be improved with better lighting and less blurriness to make the magazine look
more professional.
