8. Introduction
we perceive ourselves to live in a knowledge society and this requires us to acquire
this knowledge in order to help us in solving different types of problems.
and this means we must learn how and when to choose optimal tools and how to
apply them in a given problem.
However, with all knowledge that actually we have, we still fail to use it in the right
way and the right time.
and these failures happen in no doubt due the life complexities. Also, the
uncertainty of our future that requires us to accepting our ignorance but without
losing the confidence in what we actually do and act accordingly.
9. Approaches to knowledge - Concepts of
Intelligence
Cognitive “Intelligence” knowledge of the expert
Intelligence : a set of cognitive skills and abilities to acquire and apply knowledge
and skills.
Intelligence quotient (IQ): to measure the abilities to solve logical or strategic
problems. Also, to predict the performance in various setting.
The studies showed there is a significant relationship between IQ and job
performance (Hunter 1986).
10.
11.
12.
13. Types of Intelligence capabilities
Analytic intelligence : need to be enhanced by “practical intelligence”.
Creative intelligence: Ability to find new approaches.
Practical intelligence: capabilities to solve the problems.
“sternberg-chart”
(Sternberg, 2015)
14. Theories of cognitive intelligence
Crystallized intelligence: ability to apply acquired knowledge to current
problems(use the information that has been acquired throughout lifetime)
apply ours bodies of knowledge on certain problems.
Visual-spatial reasoning: ability to apply visual representation to problem
solving. People with high visual-spatial intelligence are good at
remembering images, faces, and find details included (visual spatial
consider as first language of the brain).
Fluid intelligence: ability to develop problem solving techniques for
problems unknown for problems solver. Also, store and manipulate new
information. And cope with non-standard problems we may encounter.
15.
16. The notion of intellectual capabilities being the
only or most important characteristic that
differentiating human existence from other
species.
17. Emotional Intelligence
Emotional Intelligence (EI): The capacity to be aware of control, and
express one's emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships.
The sets of competencies that Goleman (2004) identified to account for
high performance are:
- Self-Awareness: self-awareness, self-confidence.
- Self-Management: self-control, transparency, optimism.
- Social Awareness: Organizational awareness.
- Relationship Management: teamwork and collaboration, influence, developing
others.
18. Spiritual Intelligence
“ultimate intelligence”
spiritual Intelligence: is a higher dimension of intelligence that activates the
qualities and the capabilities of self, combined with improvement in a wide range
of important life skills and work skills. use to discover and find meaning and the
main motif of human action.
hold that Spiritual intelligence is the major capability of asking “why?” and of
answering that question by being able to find meaning in everything we do and
experience. Also, we are able to question the rules and situations we are
confronted with.
SQ = P(IQ+EQ)
where P= presence
Leader(SQ)= Manager(EQ)+Expert (IQ)
Thus spiritual intelligence results when IQ and EQ are exercised in the state of
presence.
19. Spiritual Intelligence
“ultimate intelligence” cont..
The concept of SQ directly relates to the understanding of wisdom as an attitude to
question truth, exhaustiveness and validity of beliefs, values, knowledge,
information, skills and abilities through “curiosity, openness, and complex sensing”.
Wisdom as a “deeper understanding of reality” needs to go beyond a “technical
knowledge” of how things work or of how people interact.

Knowledge is telling the past. Wisdom is telling the future.
Fluid: refers to one's ability to solve a type of novel and abstract problems that are not taught and relatively free of cultural influence.
As we know most of the companies, institutions and organizations have an experts and employees that they do their jobs and assignment’s with different type of stakeholders but these stakeholders have a different ideas and different needed so its possible that the expectations and requirements may changed and conflicting so here is the role of the leaders to use there emotional intelligence expertise to handle these issues.
Presence means that the ability to think quickly and clearly in difficult situations.
Magnified by the power of the presence.
