Scheduling project for
bader-waset road

2. •For this project a lot of assumptions are made because we
don’t have project drawings, so we don’t know on what
station does the box and pipe culvert s exist and how many.
•We considered there is only one box culvert and pipe culverts
two crossings of 1000mm, and three crossings of 800mm
considering each crossing 100m long.
•Another thing we considered once the activity is started it
will remain till it finish no matter the long time of it and this is
actually not right because in road construction we make it as a
milestones for example 10km or 5km or less or larger
depending on the availability of resources and manpower .
•So you can find activity duration of 300 days for example but
if we split this activity to milestones of 10km each, this will be
300/6=50 days and so on for the other activities.
3. Assumptions made to determine activities times
• For site clearance and temp. facilities this will depend mainly on
surveyor and helper and some times a grader to remove all radish
to fix center line and accordingly make road cross sections which is
estimated as 45 days and for the surveyor could at least make 2km
per day.
• For structural excavation which is 1000 cubic meters. Excavator
could accomplish 100 m3/day = 10 days and 4 days for submission,
and this is mainly for box and pipe culverts.
• For road excavation we are going to use dozer (D10) which could
excavate 1000m3/day means 200days and 10 days for bad weather.
• For laying of pipe culverts we estimated to lay pipes 10l.m/day so it
needs 50days.
• For erecting of box culvert for ordinary carpenter could finish
5m3/day and with 3 of them they will finish 15m3/day so 400 by 15
= 26.7days and for steel fixer could finish 1.0 ton/day and with 3 of
them could finish 3.0ton/day so 60 by 3 = 20 days another 10 days
extra for submission, pouring of concrete and possibility of bad
weather.
4. •For backfilling we used the resources of dozer (D10), grader, water tank
(2), Roller (2), and trucks (10). For the dozer it can backfill 2500 cubic
meter per day easily depending on the availability of material that is why
we used 10 trucks of 30 cubic meter loading and with 12 runs per day
30*10*12=3600 m3/day , and this needs water and grader to finish the
top of each layer and a roller for compaction. So 600000/2500=240 days
the other 60 days for submission and bad weather.
•For base coarse layers we need 13200*1.5=19800m3 of loose material
and with 10 trucks of 30m3 loading we need 66 days if each truck brings
one hit because source is too far, but the key factor here is the grader
which can finish 50m3/ day and we have two of them so we need 132
days the rest of days for submission and bad weather.
•For MC spraying each thnier could spray 20000m2/day so 582000/20000
so we need 29.1 days.
•For asphalt layer we need two finishers with 5000m2/day each so we
can achieve 10000m2/day and consequently need 58.2days and the
difference for submission and bad weather.
•For riprap protection for those workers they produce 10m3/day so we
need 50days.
•For slope protection with those workers they finish 40m2/day
consequently we need 20 days.
5. •For right of way signs we estimated duration of 10 days depending on the
location of 6km per day.
•For road painting we estimated 3km/day painting for each machine
resulting in 20days for the whole project.
•And last for traffic signs we estimated it of 10days depending on
accomplishing 6km/day.
