2. Vox pop
Although our Vox pop gave vague answers to our
questions, I think this is still useful since it
accurately shows the amount of knowledge the
public has on our topic. This representation allows
us to make our documentary truthful and honest
about what the public knows. Our Vox pop was
mainly done to show the knowledge of the average
student on our topic and although we didn’t get
much information, I believed that this was fair
because if we asked students or people who had
some knowledge on the subject, it wouldn’t
accurately represent the public and may make our
documentary biased.
3. Expert Interview
For our expert interviews, we used our knowledge of
Mise En Scene. We did this by making the location of
our interviews in a relevant place to our topic or to their
profession. For our interview with Gavin the sports
teacher we decided to place the interview in the sports
hall during a basketball practice, this highlights the fact
that he is a sports teacher and therefore would have
knowledge on our topic of technology in sport. We also
did this with our interview with Matt, a Sports student
but placed him in the changing rooms. For Nick we
decided to have a picture on the mac that had
relevance to our topic, and therefore represented him
as someone who would have knowledge on our topic. I
think these were very good ideas since it allowed us to
represent our experts as someone who knew about our
topic.
4. Media Language
For our documentary we used different media
techniques that we learned from AS such as mise en
scene and shot types. We used establishing shots to
show the location of our research/interviews and used
different shot types, one that is especially noticeable
is our expert interview with Matt where we decided to
use a over the shoulder shot as we found that it would
make our documentary more engaging. We used our
knowledge of mise en scene to represent our experts
and vox pop as either someone who knew about our
topic or to give a truthful representation. We also used
mise en scene to make sure that each shot had some
relevance to our topic, for example the picture used in
the interview of Nick.
