Evaluation
In evaluationIfeel we have successfullymetthe needsandexpectations of the client as the adverts
are 30 secondseach,theyclearlytargetspecificaudiences, they are suitable to played on radio and
include the call to action for the listeners to sign up online. Moreover, after our pitch we made an
effort to go back to the drafts of our scripts and modify them to fit with our client’s feedback and
criticism, for example the additional mention of personal statement support and university
preparation in the sixth form script.
Furthermore, on the subject of form and style I think that the content of the advert fits into the
correct form and style expected of an advert marketing a school open day. This is because it has a
suitable backingtrack that fitswiththe style of the genre, features both male and female speakers
and of course has no leading statements.
In terms of legal and ethical rules I believe my team has managed to meet the requirements
necessary for a broadcasted radio advert. We have used music without any copyright and not
includedanyswearingorpotentiallyoffensive topics as content for the adverts and therefore they
will be ethically and legally correct to air to the public.
In myopinionIthinkthat myadvertwouldfitinon the radioas itfollowsasimilarstructure to those
I have heardbefore however I would consider improving the quality of the audio if it was possible
before broadcastingthe advert.The limitationsof the environmentwe were able to shoot in meant
that the audio ending up being slightly crackly and not at the standard that I would expect to be
playedon radio. As a result I do feel that I would expect to hear clearer audio on commercial radio
yet apart from this aspect I am happy with it.
Lastly,as a group I feel we have worked well and coherently all the way through the task. Elfie and
Robyn have been both confident enough to share their ideas as well as open minded enough to
listentomyown andthishas keptus functioningasapositive andmotivatedgroup.Inopposition to
thisI wouldsayour onlyweaknesswould be that we were slowed down in making decisions as we
took a long time to choose one specific pathway as a result of not wanting to hurt each other’s
feelingsbynotchoosingpeople’sideasasthe final one. In hindsight I would go back and spend less
time on the smaller decisions at the start (because of the fear of making someone feel
underappreciated) andhave adiscussionasa groupthat nothingpersonal ismeantbythe decisions,
as thiswouldleadtous havingmore time toproduce and editthe adverts at the end of the process.
