the stigma related to addiction care is

approach to addiction treatment and
supporting individuals in their
recovery journeys.
Nicole Odom-Hardnett is the founder
of Focus Point Behavioral Health, a
company that provides a wide range
of behavioral health services to all
age groups. Starting with a
transitional home care company, she
followed a natural path to launching
her present chain of Behavioral
Health Centers. Throughout her
career, she faced numerous
challenges that tested her resilience,
but she remained steadfastly focused,

The Leap of Faith
Despite logging in over 60 hours a
week and driving countless miles in
pursuit of someone else's vision and
dream, Nicole eventually realized the
true cost of her sacrifices. It was then
that she made the decision to take a
leap of faith and build her own vision
and dream: Focus Point Behavioral
Health. Pouring all of her resources,
ideas, and faith into her new
endeavor, Nicole never looked back.
Taking that leap of faith was
undoubtedly one of the best personal
and business decisions she ever
made.
The moment that sparked Nicole's
passion for her business was when a
client left her speechless. Nicole was
thrilled to have placed this client in a
job at one of the city's largest
hospitals, knowing it would be a
significant turning point for the client
and her family. The client was
intelligent, engaging, and completed
tasks assigned to her with impressive
efficiency. However, Nicole was
shocked when the client's drug
screening returned positive for
cocaine. She was heartbroken when
she had to inform the client that the
opportunity had been lost, and the
client admitted to struggling with
cocaine addiction.
As an addiction treatment center,
Focus Point Behavioral Health aims
to address one of the biggest
challenges that Nicole observed in
her professional career prior to
starting the business. She noticed that
addiction was a significant obstacle
for many of her welfare-to-work
clients.
Nicole believes that it is fair to
conclude that addiction was the
common factor that hindered many
of her welfare-to-work clients from
achieving their job placement goals.
Her experience with these clients led
her to become a change-maker in the
way addiction is treated, supported,
and the stigma around it removed.
The Journey to Achieving Dreams
Nicole's overall value system was
molded by her upbringing in a career
military family, where "service and
dedication" were key principles. She
began her professional career by
directing and managing welfare-to-
work programs, in which she
excelled. The lessons she learned
from this experience became the
foundation for her later success as an
entrepreneur.

naturally led her to the behavioral
health sector. She began in healthcare
by establishing her first transitional
home, then went on to own various

Nicole established "Talk to Nicole," a
counseling firm specializing in
fostering harmonious relationships,
especially in mixed families.
Through her business and advocacy
work, Nicole has devoted her life to
improving society and raising

Dr. Patel believes that dedication to

maximum number of people, so in the next phase, we plan
to avail our facility in another city," says Dr. Patel.

Accept the Flow
Initially, Kristen Poe had no intention of working in the functional
medicine industry. After graduating from college, she had planned to
attend medical school like her father. During her junior year of
college, she was given the chance to work with a significant
pharmaceutical company, which completely altered her life. She
pursued a career in the pharmaceutical industry after graduating
from college and earned an MBA in marketing. She also had a joint
ownership interest in a beauty industry business. She acquired a
wealth of knowledge that she has applied to her fascinating career.
She feels that being a business owner and building a practice from
scratch, with a western medical and business viewpoint has been
tremendously beneficial. She feels it's the best decision she could
have ever made. Her only regret was that she didn't act sooner. She
believes the most important lesson she learned was that it was never
too late to follow your passions and dreams.
A leap of faith towards growth
Kristen worked in the pharmaceutical industry, which was an
interesting and fast-paced field that kept her on her toes. She traveled
extensively, made lots of new friends, and won an award for being
the best representative of the nation. Despite knowing she needed to
change, she found it extremely challenging to take the risk because
of her successful and fulfilling career. She made the decision to
change her ways and adopt a healthy diet because she was dealing
with poor health, nutrition, and lifestyle choices. She began a whole
food diet and personal training regimen as part of her journey toward
health and wellness. After a year, she soon began training for fitness
competitions after a year. "I was fascinated to learn that just by
eating well and choosing the right foods, I felt like a new person, not
to mention achieving a physique I never thought would be possible."
Kristen says.
At this point, Kristen understood she had to stand back, consider
what was truly important to her, and pursue her dreams. She knew
she wanted to pursue a career in health and help patients improve
their health and wellness. She began a protracted journey of learning
functional medicine, nutrition, and naprapathy with the support of
her husband and family. She opened her practice, Poe Holistic
Health, in 2019 after nearly ten years of education and training.

Post Pandemic changes
The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 is
among the biggest changes Kristen has
observed, as is how exhausted many
healthcare professionals are and how
burdened the industry is. Kristen expresses
her gratitude for Western medicine and all
of its amazing providers. We are so lucky
to have wonderful physicians, nurses, and
specialists who show up every day and
give their all to provide top-notch patient
care. There will always be a need for
medical services and care, which
occasionally leads to a shortage of
practitioners. In Kristen's opinion, there
will always be a need for more healthcare
professionals to keep up with the rapidly
growing and changing healthcare sector.
Every area of technology was impacted by
the COVID-19 pandemic, including
healthcare.
The availability of telehealth services,
appointments, and communication is now
widely available to patients.

he previous few years have compelled leadership
techniques to modify and adapt, especially as the
pandemic pushed for mandatory work from home
policies. Numerous organizational structures and
hierarchies have also been questioned, along with
traditional leadership styles. As a result, working standards and
values have had to change as well, and to be a persuasive leader,
you must adapt in response to your environment. Leaders have had
to adapt and make their organizations or environments more
inclusive in order to be effective in our present work environment.
This has probably led to many ﬁrms functioning better than they
ever have.
Raman Singh, the founder and CEO of Juniper Biologics, has
extensive knowledge in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.
He formerly served as CEO of Mundipharma, a large global
pharmaceutical ﬁrm with a focus on research. Additionally, he led
initiatives in research and development to look at how consumer
goods may assist nations in halting the COVID-19 virus’s rapid
growth. To demonstrate that certain Betadine medications (part of
the Mundipharma portfolio) might kill the COVID-19 virus in 15 and
30 seconds, laboratory testing was started at Duke-NUS and other
labs across the world. Raman was motivated to create Juniper
Biologics after working in various places and observing the
disparities in healthcare as well as the effects his work had on a

Raman realized the impact his work
may have on people's health on a
worldwide scale after working on the
research and development projects to
stop the spread of COVID-19. That is
what motivated him to look for novel
treatments that might prolong the
lives of patients with crippling
diseases like cancer. Raman's focus
on enhancing access to important and
inexpensive medications as well as
offering cutting-edge treatments to
improve patients' quality of life was
necessary, even though creating a
successful firm is difficult. He
observes that large pharmaceutical

first cell-mediated gene therapy in
the world for the treatment of knee
osteoarthritis, were recently acquired
for up to USD $600 million. An
estimated 300 million patients in
Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and
Africa will be able to get this
medicine thanks to this initiative. In
addition, Juniper Biologics
completed six license agreements in
the last year and added Aloxi,
Akynzeo, and Anamorelin to its

Rupak Barua, Director and Group CEO of AMRI
Hospitals, who has over three decades of
experience in the healthcare industry, focuses
on developing strategies for the growth and
process-oriented administration of multi-

Mr. Barua is a well-known leader in the
healthcare sector. After earning his B.Sc from
Calcutta University, he took his first step and
began working as a management trainee in the
1980s. From there, he rose to become the

diagnostic centres, before transitioning into the
healthcare delivery field, and working with
premier private hospitals in Kolkata. He has a
postgraduate degree in marketing, and has
completed Management Development

throughout the course of a career spanning
more than three decades. He has held

hospital, Calcutta Medical Research Institute
(CMRI), as the Chief Operating Officer (COO),
followed by being appointed the CEO of the
B.M. Birla Heart Research Institute, India's first
NABH-accredited hospital. He presently serves
as Director and Chief Executive Officer of AMRI
Hospitals, where he has made significant
contributions to the development of private
healthcare.
Mr. Barua has also been involved with various
advocacy groups and Chambers of commerce,
where he plays a leading role, including as
Chairman of the Confederation of Indian
Industry's (CII) Healthcare Sub Committee
(Eastern Region) and a Council Member of CII's
National Healthcare Committee, as a National
Expert with the Indian Chamber of Commerce's
