A Life changing Journey
In 1972, Irene landed a part-time secretary job with Fitzgerald Realtors,
working under the supervision of Fred Fitzgerald, the broker. That particular
event proved to be life-changing for her. Although she enjoyed the position,
Irene had to resign at some point. However, Fred shared with her his belief that
she had what it takes to be successful and eventually emerge at the top of the
game. This vision of his stuck with her. At 23 years old, without the benefit of
modern-day technology such as MLS, computers, and cell phones, Irene got
her Real Estate license. Following Fred's advice to listen, learn, and get out
there, Irene listed nine houses in her first week on the job. When Fred asked

million-dollar club within her first

time, the average cost of a house was

started as a part-time job has turned
into a lifelong passion. Fred
Fitzgerald, who once believed in her
potential, has been her rock, broker,
advisor, and mentor over the past 50
years. Irene takes great pride in

Along the way, she has met some
fantastic individuals, many of whom
have become lifelong friends. One
recent experience was when she
listed a property that was once
purchased from her back in 1977.
Irene was once on the verge of
retiring a few years ago, and she
thought that it was the end of her
career. However, Fred, her mentor,
advised her that the best was yet to
come, even at 67 years old. He was
right. Instead of retiring, Irene
decided to embrace the latest
technology and reinvent herself. Her
office suggested a grand opening,
which she didn't think much of at
first. To her surprise, families she had
sold homes to over 30 years ago
attended the event, and the county
even honored her with a special day.
Her office was packed with so many
people that she was speechless,
which was rare for someone who
talks non-stop and loves to hug

  • 33. A Life changing Journey In 1972, Irene landed a part-time secretary job with Fitzgerald Realtors, working under the supervision of Fred Fitzgerald, the broker. That particular event proved to be life-changing for her. Although she enjoyed the position, Irene had to resign at some point. However, Fred shared with her his belief that she had what it takes to be successful and eventually emerge at the top of the game. This vision of his stuck with her. At 23 years old, without the benefit of modern-day technology such as MLS, computers, and cell phones, Irene got her Real Estate license. Following Fred's advice to listen, learn, and get out there, Irene listed nine houses in her first week on the job. When Fred asked her how she managed to achieve that, her response was simple: "You told me to.” Irene's dedication and hard work paid off as she quickly ascended to the million-dollar club within her first two years in the industry. At that time, the average cost of a house was around $25,000. Since then, she has continued to achieve great success in the field of real estate.
