Modern Logo Design With Deer Antlers and Cityscape
1. Logo Planning
This design is very simple and has a futuristic feel. The two
lines at the top break the logo up and because it is so bold it
makes the audience feel like they are a worldwide artist. The
black and white makes it very eye-catching whilst maintaining
a mainstream style.
These two contrasting logos are very
effective and I think that the black and
white style works very well. When
designing my logo I will need to think
about the whole thing, not just one
element. I also need to think about
adding something to the font which
makes it a logo, like Donkeyboy.
This logo is very clever and I really like
it, the use of tessellation which looks
like a donkey binds everything together.
It is almost two logos because either
can be applied to anything and you
would still know who the band were. It
has a very Indie feel, however the use
of pastel colours gives it that Indie-Pop
feel. The geometric style makes it very
modern and eye-catching.

When looking at fonts I wanted to use something
that would be very fun to show the representation
we are trying to fulfil but also have an Indie feel. I
decided to call the artist ‘Dan B’ because it is short
and makes my audience wonder what ‘B’. A full-stop
makes it more formal and finishes it off nicely
telling you that it the name. I also wanted to make
the name have a deeper meaning upon reflection
which it does. ‘Dan B.’ when said quickly altogether
it sounds like ’Bambi’, everyone is familiar with it as
being the deer from the Disney movie. A deer lives
in the woods and links in nicely with my music video
because of the different locations. This hybrid of
formal feel and rural location makes the name
perfect.

This font is fun because parts of letters
are filled in and the letters are not lined
symmetrically. It is very plain and it has
a indie-pop feel about it which is
perfect for my artist. The font would be
very apply across the ancillary tasks
and create a strong brand.
This font is too feminine for the artist
and may make him appear to be weak in
the music industry, in terms of the
stereotype of ‘gay men’ in the work
place. Therefore it needs to be
something powerful and dominant.
This font has a very formal feel and
looks like a typewriter which is very
effective. However it looks hand
rendered which gives it an edgy feel
and makes it look very Indie. I have
tried it with all capitals too which would
be very important on the Digipak poster
for attracting the audience.

4. Logo Planning
I have chosen to develop some of the
fonts further and add other aspects to
make it a logo. I added some deer
antlers to make the woodland meaning
more clear. However the urban feel
gets lost, therefore I would need to
develop this design further.
I feel that this design doesn’t look right
on this font because the font is ‘3d’ and
the antlers aren't’. Therefore I think I
should go for a 2D font.
5. Logo Planning
Developing even further I have produced this initial draft of my logo
which can be applied across the auxiliary tasks. I have added a city
scape across the bottom giving it an urban feel, then the deer
antlers I made smaller to not overpower it. As this is only an initial
draft I could still develop it further as I may change my mind once
applied to the different tasks. However I will not change it much
because I am please with it so far. I experimented with
colours, although I will not know how well colours will work once on
the Digipak, website etc.
