The document discusses the selection and effectiveness of fonts and colors for a band's logo and ancillary texts. It describes how the band chose red and white to represent their indie pop genre and represent love and peace. They used an online tool to test 9 fonts and chose one that was girly and suited their genre. Based on feedback, they changed to a second font that was legible against backgrounds and still captured their style. In the end, they felt their main logo and additional texts worked well together and matched their planned design of representing their indie pop sound.
1. How effective is the combination of
your main product and ancillary
texts?
2. • When deciding on ancillary text, we wanted to make
sure that the font we used represented the genre of
indie pop. Our other aim was to make sure that it was
easily recognizable. As a group, we felt that the colors
red and white should be used as our text because it
would represent love and peace. The colors would also
be a good combination together because the white
would make the red stand out more. By using these
colors, it would represent our genre, indie pop as it
would be girly with the red, but also indie because they
have a tendency of using bright colors.
3. • We used an online free website called
Pickmonkey to create the logo for our band. This
website allowed us to see variety of different
fonts so we maximized to 9 different fonts which
we thought was suitable for our genre. As a
group, we decided on the first font and used it for
our draft. But after getting feedback, we changed
our font to the second font as it was lenient on
the background, it was girly and suited the genre
better.
4. • At the end, we felt that our main product and
ancillary texts were very effective together
because our final product came out exactly
how we planned. We felt that the ancillary
text was well recognizable and for all products
that we used the font for, it was lenient on the
background and looked girly
5. This is an album cover of Rihanna. She
has kept her album really simple by
only having her face on the front as
she is the star image. The image of
Rihanna is a close up shot of her face
and her eyes are focusing sharply at
the camera. The same way the logo of
the ‘R’ has very sharp edges so the
logo has been made to match the
image. People would expect to see her
face on the front as all her albums
have her face. Her target audience
would also expect to see the letter R
as she has used that as her logo for
majority of her album covers.
