The major objective of the thesis is to summarize the complexity of the
mass-tourism issues and to introduce new forms of sustainable tourism
that can play a significant role in the economies of developing countries. The
practical part of the thesis is related to a case study which is based on the
research work I conducted in Meghalaya, North East India in 2014 and
whose results were used for designing Sustainable Village Development
Programme which is now implemented in 56 remote villages.
