4. The Pukekohe Area Plan
A strong collaboration between the Franklin Local Board,
council staff and the community
The Pukekohe Area Plan provided high level master planning to guide
growth in Pukekohe, an area identified for significant growth in the
Auckland Plan over the next 30 years. This informed the draft Auckland
Unitary Plan, which was silent on how growth could be provided for in
Pukekohe

Takapuna
Community –led engagement
Community stakeholders led an engagement with local people for the
Local Board Plan and Area Plan in 2014. This ensured that genuine
local views and aspirations were heard, helped to minimise confusion
and avoid consultation fatigue and rebuilt trust and confidence
between the council and local people.

success story for the region. It was
a reason for the community to
unite and fight, resulting in one of
the largest open forums of
expression and opinion seen in our
region by people who dared to
dream big.
