Magazine Profile
  { By Tim Loe
 My magazine is targeted at a relatively niche market
segment, since a horror magazine is a niche product.
 The age of the audience is 15-25, which is the same
age range for our horror trailer’s target audience, as
I feel the horror genre as a whole attracts this age
        group.
 However I think the income bracket will change.
        From C2 – E to C1 – E. I feel that the income bracket
will be higher than C2, as a higher income bracket
stereotypically suggests more intelligence, which is
what the audience for a niche horror magazine
would be. Although the income bracket would not
be higher than C1, as the audience is relatively
young and they would have only just moved into
work and therefore not have a higher income.
 Mature students will also be attracted to the
magazine as well (income bracket E) as they would
be intellectual but not have an income yet. A typical
example would be a film studies student, who is
interested in the production of film and analysing
        aspects of film.

Who is the Audience?
 Since my magazine is targeted at a niche
market, supply will be low (compared to that
of a mass market magazine). Therefore an
independent publishing house will publish my
        magazine.
 An industry example of this would be Shroud
Publishing, who publish the niche ‘Shroud
Magazine’ which contains dark fiction, the
        independent publishing house are relatively
small, reflecting the small market segment their
        product is aimed at.

Who will publish the
magazine?
 A niche audience is best since it is more likely
they will watch the film (Paralysis) the
magazine is promoting, since the audience
would be more avid film fans who have a
        distinct enjoyment for horror.
 However niche markets are substantially
smaller than the mass market, and therefore
not as many people will read the magazine,
and therefore there may not be as many
        potential viewers as possible.
 Therefore marketing ‘paralysis’ in just a niche
magazine would limit our potential audience,
and since our distribution is high budget we
can promote our films in mass market
        magazines such as ‘Empire’ also.

Why a niche audience is
best
 Since my trailer is a mass market product the
target audience is a lot broader. Students who
read the magazine will be the audience for the
film as well, as they are both in the target
        audience category for the products.
 The higher income bracket audience for the
        magazine may also be a

How does the audience
for this relate to the
audience for my trailer?
