Mood Board
I’m going to create a gaming magazine
with an article on a specific game. I’ve
chosen pictures from three different
games to draw inspiration for my article.
The images are fun, brightly coloured,
upbeat and, in some cases, comical. This is
the general tone that I want to set when
creating my magazine cover and feature
article. I want to entice the reader in and
inspire them to play the game.
Mood Board
For my second mood board I’ve chosen pictures of
gaming magazines in a similar style to what I want to
create. I’ve chosen covers that are brightly coloured
and appealing.
I’ve also chosen pictures of the game logos that I
want to write my feature article about. The colour
schemes of these logos are all very similar, with blues
and greens.
Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated
colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
• The images I’ve chosen all have gaming in common as this is the genre of magazine that I want to
create. The main similarity is the colour schemes; especially in the logos. The general colour
schemes of the games are blues and greens.
• Another similarity is the pictures all have an upbeat, fun and happy tone.
• The fonts for The Sims 4 and Two Point Hospital are very similar. They are both clean and crisp to
read, where as My Time at Portia’s logo font has more of a detailed calligraphy style.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
• Dependant on which game I choose to write about, I will incorporate the colour scheme and font
style of that particular game into my article and front cover.
• The blues and greens in each game’s colour scheme are all gender neutral colours which will appeal
not only to my primary gender, males, but also to my secondary gender, females.
• For my article illustrations I will be taking screenshots in the game to feature in my article. I will
keep them in a similar fun and bright image style and tone to the images that I have included in my
mood board, as I feel these styles will be the most appealing for the reader.
