becoming the President and CEO of a
National Recruiting and Consulting
Firm. With an innovative mindset, she

A Shining Example of HR Leadership!
To remain competitive and agile, you need
connected and engaged employees and a
future-focused HR leader. Andrea Brogger,
Chief People Officer at TrueBlue Inc. is someone
who keeps the company's mindset of being a force for
good at the heart of her work as she galvanizes and
engages TrueBlue employees. In an interview with
The CIO World, Andrea shares the importance of
building a strong collaborative relationship across all
levels of the organization.

Take us through your journey to becoming an HR
leader.
For me, part of being a proficient leader is self-reflection. I
enjoy reflecting on my journey and the key learnings I've
gained along the way.
• Increase your emotional intelligence. There is a tight
connection between effective leadership and emotional
intelligence.
• Continuously focus on self-improvement. We cannot
grow and learn without admitting mistakes, and, more
importantly, learning from them.
• Be open to feedback, but also actively seek feedback
on your work. This is essential to evolving as a leader
and achieving your best results.
• Dedicate yourself to knowing the business. Mission
matters, and to be successful, you need to connect
with a company's goals and the difference they are
striving to make.
• Lastly, leadership is not only the action of leading
others; it's about leading the way through our actions.
I don't take for granted the responsibility I have to
mentor and guide others to meet their full potential.
How do you help ensure the organization's messages
resonate with target audiences?
The best way to entice any audience is to understand who
they are and what they want. This may seem simple, but
people just want to be heard and understood. Understanding
what your current and potential employees are looking for
in an organization is crucial to meeting their needs.
Engagement surveys are a wonderful tool to learn what is
on employees' minds. It's important to go beyond the data,
to talk to employees, and to understand what matters to
them. This helps keep your company's offerings on track.
I've developed numerous successful developmental and
mentoring programs based on feedback received from our
employees.
What are the biggest opportunities for improving talent
management?
I am a big fan of the agile approach to HR. Agile methods
take pieces from agile tech and adapt them to support
businesses and people. The agile approach represents an
essential shift and an opportunity to provide a better
framework that keeps HR connected and focused on
business outcomes while also creating programs catered to
your people.

Personalized and scalable solutions should be reflective of
our dynamic and diverse people. We need to focus on
robust and holistic solutions to any issues while always
remaining agile and ensuring that we have the resources to
adapt.
What values are important to you as an HR leader?
Several core values are in the fabric of how I operate as an
HR leader: self-awareness, empathy, accountability, and
growth. Knowing my strengths and weaknesses and how
each of them shows up is vital to my growth and allows me
to build on my strengths and identify areas where I need to
improve. I often have to make difficult decisions; having
empathy is critical as a reminder that people are attached to
every decision we make.
It is important, as a leader and as an advocate for our people
and our people programs, that I not only hold my teams
accountable but also hold myself accountable. We must do
what we say we are going to do.
Lastly, having a growth mindset and helping stretch the
business is a vital value that I hold close.
What are you doing to ensure you continue to grow and
develop as an HR leader?
I consider myself a lifelong student. I am constantly looking
for opportunities to learn and grow professionally. I
recently went back to school to get a second master's
degree, an executive master's degree in human resources at
Cornell University. There, I had the opportunity to learn
more about the latest HR approaches and built a strong
network of peers I kept in touch with and continue to learn
from today.
I encourage my team to challenge the status quo. I want us
to question how we can do things better, to think outside the
box by looking at the what-ifs, and to overcome hurdles. As
a result, we end up with new and dynamic ideas, and more
importantly, we all learn from each other daily.
Are data and analytics important in your work?
Data insights are essential; they help HR professionals
identify opportunities for growth, learning, and, most
importantly, ways to improve. When it comes to analytics,
the answer is always yes.
What are your future endeavors/objectives, and where
do you see the HR industry in the near future?
My focus is to continue to work towards an agile HR
framework and to ensure that the HR function is a strategic
business partner. I want us to remain ahead of the curve in
talent development and talent acquisition to help the
company meet its goals.
As newer generations enter the workforce, they look for
career growth and an individualized approach to their career
development. Gone are the days of cookie-cutter, one-size-
fits-all HR; we will need to transform into a concierge
department with unique plans as diverse as our employee
populations.
What advice would you like to give to emerging leaders?
Continually seek to learn and grow. Always ask questions.
Solicit and be open to feedback, input, and guidance. And
remember, you can learn just as much from those you lead
as they can from you as their leader. My favorite questions
to ask are, "What is working and what isn't working?" They
always deliver valuable insight.

Kindly brief us about yourself and your professional
journey so far. What was your inspiration for stepping
into this business niche?
I’m a bit of a global nomad; I was born in Belgium and then
educated in England, Luxembourg, Germany, Spain,
Greece, and France. I graduated with a double degree in
Social Sciences and Political Sciences and can speak eight
languages, so my background is rather multi-cultural and
multi-faceted.
From moving around so much, I found that I had a talent
for building connections and developing relationships,
which is a crucial skill for any business but especially PR
and communications. I spent a lot of time honing these
skills in my life before Thailand, and then after working
here for a while, I was inspired to launch Midas PR in 2007.

What is your role in its development and global outreach?

The best word to describe our approach to internal
strategies is “focusing on diversity” Our team is truly

We currently have 11 nationalities represented and 15
languages spoken fluently in our offices.
I’m also a passionate supporter of gender equality, women’s
leadership, and inclusion, so this plays out in our agency
policies. As many business leaders today recognize, diverse

the catalyst for complacency and groupthink. It also means
we can connect with diverse stakeholders, no matter where
they are located. We’ve executed campaigns all over, from
Gibraltar to the Caribbean.

What services enable you to open doors for opportunities?
Our main areas of expertise include integrated public
relations, digital PR, strategic communications, social

This is a relatively standard list for a PR agency, but again,
what makes us stand out is, once again, our diversity and
not just the personal profiles of our team members. We
work with both local and international clients from a broad
range of industries, so the diversity of our experience also

Our capabilities are also a unique selling point; we can act
as a one-stop shop, covering everything our clients need,
from traditional media relations to digital campaigns, live
events, and influencer management. Having one agency
take care of everything does make things much simpler.
How is Midas PR utilizing technological advancements
to enhance consultancy and its services?
Midas PR is a bit of a pioneer when it comes to remote
working; it’s something we had implemented way before
COVID forced everyone’s hand. Our team members have
worked remotely from the UK, France, Estonia, India, and
the USA, so we have virtual team management, which
we’ve honed and perfected over the years. This also meant
that when the pandemic hit, we were much better prepared
than many other companies.
Today, technology is a prerequisite for serving clients,
particularly with globalization progressing at the speed it is.
For our business model, global operations and international
collaborations are very important.
Outside of team management and client work, technology
also enables us to be an essential player in the wider PR and
communications industry amongst our peers. Midas is the
first and only PROI Worldwide member in Thailand, the
first PRCA member in Thailand, and a founding member of
the PRCA TH chapter, which was established earlier this
year and of which I was elected as the first chair. This
simply wouldn’t be possible without embracing the technology
that facilitates real-time collaboration regardless of
geographical location.
Shed light on your experiences as a multi-service
providing company in your professional journey.
Being a multi-service provider means wearing many hats
and juggling multiple responsibilities while playing different
roles, something the Midas PR team is very good at.
The key challenge is to demonstrate the variety of
competencies with confidence, supported by evidence, to
assure clients that we’re not a Jack-of-all-trades. What helps
here is delegation. I know I keep coming back to it, but it’s
all about team diversity!
I have built an experienced, skilled, and passionate team
with different strengths because I can’t be an expert in
everything. This means that I can bring in different
individuals, play to their strengths, and give them the
opportunity and autonomy to let those strengths shine.

Delegation can be a hard skill to learn, especially when you
own a business; it’s like your baby, and it can be tough to
devolve some of the decision-making and strategic onus,
but if you want to grow, you have to recognize there will
come the point where you simply can’t do it all.
According to you, how do you monitor leadership and
progressive growth opportunities while providing
world-class services?
It’s two sides of the same coin; providing world-class
services is impossible without giving our team opportunities
to lead and grow.
It’s important to recognize that leadership doesn’t just mean
being an account manager or director; even an intern can
demonstrate leadership skills that can be built on. That’s
how you maintain a strong team that is motivated and
engaged, which in turn leads to better client service.
Tell us about the challenges you have faced and how
they have shaped you as a business leader.
I’d be lying if I said that it’s easy to launch and grow a
business as an expat in a country where English is not the
first language. It’s also a challenge we have to consider
when we look at our team culture. There are definitely
social and professional differences between the West and
East, and navigating these differences to maintain a sense of
equilibrium where every team member feels accommodated
and recognized can be tricky.

I think doing this for so many years has made me
both culturally sensitive and somewhat thick-
skinned. That sounds like an oxymoron, but it’s
probably the best way to describe it.
Where do you envision yourself and your
company’s global outreach in the upcoming
years?
Like many entrepreneurs, I’m a natural-born optimist, so I
have big hopes for the future of Midas PR. Over the past
year, our company has become more global than ever
before, with more big accounts coming from overseas and
more briefs coming in for regional and global campaigns.
We are extremely proud of this achievement, with clients
seeing us as their preferred partner for executing
communication projects in Thailand, Asia, and even on
other continents. I see definite scope for us to expand our
global footprint further.

We recently relocated to our own building, a four-story
townhouse in a green area of the city, with a large
professional-grade kitchen suitable not only for the team’s

Midas PR regularly does for our clients).
We intentionally chose a space that offers diverse working
environments because we all have different preferences for
how we like to work. We have an indoor open-air patio with
green trees and chaise lounge chairs, two large conference
rooms, a co-working space, private booths for taking phone
calls or participating in Zoom conferences, and even
“cycling chairs” for those who want to burn some calories
while they work.

At 31, she embarked on a journey with her husband that

dives deep into why. No stone is left unturned, and all
angles are considered before considering a new approach or
strategy. As her company grows, retaining clients is of the
utmost importance, and she takes it seriously. Equally, if
they lose staff, she does not take it lightly, as she understands
that staff is the backbone of her business. She takes the
reasons for the loss into account and does her best to ensure
that it doesn’t happen again by listening to her staff and
understanding their needs. She understands that without a
strong, motivated team, success is impossible to achieve,
and she works hard to maintain a supportive and inspiring
environment for her employees.
From Soaring Beginnings to a Force to be Reckoned
With
Being a business leader is not for the faint of heart. It takes
a certain type of person to be able to make tough decisions,
take risks and remain resilient in the face of adversity. She
has been lucky to have her husband as her co-founder, so
they’ve built the business up together, navigating the trials
and tribulations of the entrepreneurial journey. Over the
years, she has become a force to be reckoned with, learning
from her experiences and becoming far tougher and more
resilient. Her ability to stay the course has been an invaluable
asset to her staff, allowing them to understand that bumps in
the road are parred for the course and that they must remain
focused on their goals.
She has found it tough to manage staff and balance the
demands of the business. As an entrepreneur, she knows
that no one taught her how to grow a business, run it, or
manage people. But at the age of 60, she is still learning
how to be a good boss. She has come to realize that the key
to being a successful leader is to be an active listener and
give people the opportunity to make and learn from their
mistakes. Nothing is more fulfilling than being able to
watch talented individuals grow and become great leaders
in their own right. As she continues to manage her business,
she hopes to pass on the skills and knowledge that have
helped her become a successful leader.
Modest Beginnings to Global Success
She never dreamed of world domination; instead, she found
contentment in growing a successful business. With a
modest 30-35 clients, she was able to nurture and watch her
staff blossom into top-notch PR professionals. She enjoyed
the sense of satisfaction that came from helping others
reach their professional goals, which was more rewarding
than any kind of global success. She was proud of the tight-
knit team she had built and was content with the size they
had achieved.
She wants Eskenzi’s US arm to continue to soar and
expand, and to that end, they’ve recently taken on some of
the brightest interns from some of the top universities in the
US. She is keen to keep them on board, as they will be a
vital part of the team in achieving the growth she has
envisioned. Already, they have made impressive strides in
the US, with almost as many clients as they do in the UK.
However, she believes the Middle East could be a huge area
for growth, where Eskenzi can make its mark in the world
of IT. She is confident that with the right team in place, the
sky’s the limit for Eskenzi.
With her daughters by her side, she’s been crafting the
ultimate Wellbeing and Productivity App—The
Zensory—to assist those in the workplace in becoming
more centered and tranquil. Eskenzi was so impressed with
the efforts that they decided to take them on as clients!
After the overwhelming success of their PR initiatives,
they’ve already earned a new client in the wellness sector!
Having been a renowned cybersecurity PR agency for
nearly three decades, they’re now looking to expand their
horizons and create an entirely new division that helps
businesses establish their presence in the health and
wellness tech industry. This is a field that the team is
incredibly passionate about, and they would love to
cultivate it with a team of dedicated employees.
A Moment of Unparalleled Joy
It was a moment of sheer jubilation when they won the Best
PR and Marketing Campaign award at the Exhibition
Awards for the International Cyber Expo. An absolute
privilege for her to be presented with the illustrious Queen’s
Award for Enterprise. Rejoicing the success at Buckingham
Palace was an astonishing moment of satisfaction and
delight for her, acknowledging the difficulty of triumph in
business. Acclaimed for an incredible six years, only 120

Several core values are in the fabric of how I operate as an HR leader: self-awareness, empathy, accountability, and growth. Knowing my strengths and weaknesses and how each of them shows up is vital to my growth and allows me to build on my strengths and identify areas where I need to improve. I often have to make difficult decisions; having empathy is critical as a reminder that people are attached to every decision we make. I recently went back to school to get a second master's degree, an executive master's degree in human resources at Cornell University. There, I had the opportunity to learn more about the latest HR approaches and built a strong network of peers I kept in touch with and continue to learn from today. I encourage my team to challenge the status quo. I want us to question how we can do things better, to think outside the box by looking at the what-ifs, and to overcome hurdles. As a result, we end up with new and dynamic ideas, and more importantly, we all learn from each other daily. Are data and analytics important in your work? Data insights are essential; they help HR professionals identify opportunities for growth, learning, and, most importantly, ways to improve. When it comes to analytics, the answer is always yes. What are your future endeavors/objectives, and where do you see the HR industry in the near future? My focus is to continue to work towards an agile HR framework and to ensure that the HR function is a strategic business partner. I want us to remain ahead of the curve in talent development and talent acquisition to help the company meet its goals. As newer generations enter the workforce, they look for career growth and an individualized approach to their career development. Our team members have worked remotely from the UK, France, Estonia, India, and the USA, so we have virtual team management, which we’ve honed and perfected over the years. This also meant that when the pandemic hit, we were much better prepared than many other companies. Today, technology is a prerequisite for serving clients, particularly with globalization progressing at the speed it is. For our business model, global operations and international collaborations are very important. Outside of team management and client work, technology also enables us to be an essential player in the wider PR and communications industry amongst our peers. Midas is the first and only PROI Worldwide member in Thailand, the first PRCA member in Thailand, and a founding member of the PRCA TH chapter, which was established earlier this year and of which I was elected as the first chair. It’s two sides of the same coin; providing world-class services is impossible without giving our team opportunities to lead and grow.
