2. We constantly communicating with each others
for different purposes in all spheres of our life-at
home ,school and work place and in a community.
Effective communication results in co-operation,
whereas weak or faulty communication leads to
miscommunication and failure to achieve the
speaker’s or the writers objectives.
Communication thus forms an important and
integral part of our lives.

DESTINATION/RECEIVER/DECODER- to whom
PURPOSE-what the act of communication does for
the sender i.e.to state a fact, give advice,make a
request or ask a question.

Downward communication consist of the flow of
information from the top level of an organisation
to the workers
Via- seniors, managers ,supervisors and their
assistant .
Ex. Notices, circulars, written/orally issued
instructions, group meetings, orders, letters,
memos, bulletins etc.
7. Upward Communication-
Upward Communication involves movement of
information from the lower level of an
organisation to the upper level through different
tiers of its hierarchical structure .
The upward direction of flow is very useful
because it gives the management feedback and
suggestion from their employees.
8. The upward communication useful to share their
problems and needs.
All these help in to improve the organisation’s products
and working conditions .
Ex. Suggestion boxes, phone cells, emails, meetings,
memos, reports and grievances.
