• Advising budding organizations in India and aspiring MNCs who are planning
to enter India market on organization set-up, supply chain development,
connecting with Ministry and policy makers.
• Worked with a couple of US and Spanish MNCs in PV Solar space since 2015 in
advisory consulting role
• Advising and leading the business development strategy for Oorjan Cleantech
Pvt. Ltd. (a Mumbai based solar energy company)
AREVA Solar India Pvt. Ltd. (May 2012 – Dec 2014)
Location:Mumbai
Managing Director, India with additional responsibility for Business Development in
Southern Africa
- Business size: Implemented a 300M USD project in India- first of its kind and
the largest in the world; Second project of similar size to be executed.
Another 250M USD projects in different stages of commercial discussion with
customers.
- People: 55 people in different functions (projects, finance, sales,
commercials, supply chain, HR and admin). Lean organization put in place in
last 2 years (from over 100 people) by changing business model with
achievement of better profitability
- Responsible for achievement of order target, profitability and organic growth
of the business in South Asia and Southern Africa
- Government relations, Sales, marketing, marketing communications,
commercial proposals, application sale and strategic alliance organizations are
reporting to this position
- Joined AREVA Solar as Director Business Development for India and South
Asia region and based on the performance in first seven months, got
promoted to take over Business Development leadership for Southern Africa
as well in April 2013. In India, I extended the relationship with critical
stakeholders like EPC companies and developer organizations and developed
a mature relationship with policy makers and government functionaries both
at federal and state level. In South Africa I established a strategic alliance with
a local developer –Afridevo for participation in REIPP projects of DOE. Also
obtained USTDA funding for development of the 100MW solar project under
REIPP phase III. As India Managing Director I was responsible for all regulatory
and compliance obligations of the legal entity and guided the project
implementation of the 125MW project with Reliance Power which was
completed in December 2014. This was the largest solar project under GOI
National Solar Mission and largest solar project in Asia.
- I was reporting to Global VP of Business Development who was based in
MountainView, USA and was reporting operationally to CEO of AREVA India
(based in Mumbai) and Global CEO of AREVA Solar who was based in Paris.
The entire India team was operationally and functionally reporting to my
position.
GE Energy (Dec 2005 - May 2012)
Director- Partnerships for entire GE Energy from November 2009 to May 2012
- Business size: 271M USD in 2011, 386M USD in 2010
- Was responsible for the development and maintenance of GE Energy’s EPC
relationships, including strategy development, integrated account planning,
opportunity identification, and value communication across the Energy
portfolio.
- Maintained top management level relationships with key accounts in utilities
and EPC companies
- Was a member of the leadership team of GE Energy (India) CEO and is a key
contributor in all strategic business initiatives of GE Energy. Was functionally
reporting to Global Head of Key Accounts Management of GE Energy and
operationally reporting to President and CEO of GE Energy in India.
- Successfully concluded business alliance and consortium agreements with
Punj Llyod, Lanco, L&T Construction for GE Energy. Developed key strategic
relationship with Shapoorji Pallonji EPC for construction requirements.
Sales Leader (equivalent to Sales Director) of Optimization and Control business of
GE Energy for India region (India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka) between April 2007 to
October 2009
- Business size: 50 MM USD in 2009 (grew from 12M USD between Apr 2007 to
Nov 2009)
