Andreas Schleicher presents at the launch of What does child empowerment mean...
Who would be the audience for your media
1. Who would be the audience
for your media product and
how did you attract/address
them?
2. Our opening scene, which is called
‘Justice’ is aimed at people aged 12
and older due to the emotional and
sensitive content which could be
upsetting for anyone younger than 12.
3. In the beginning we were indecisive on
whether the film should be aimed at
12 and above or 15 and above, due to
some of the content, character death,
which can be upsetting. However we
then re-evaluated what the film would
actually involve, as it had no drug or
sexual references we decided that an
age rating and audience of 12 would
be appropriate.
4. We engaged our audience through the
use of both young and older actors;
we conformed and conformed to
gender and social stereotypes, which
may appeal to the audience. We also
used a dramatic story line, which some
people may find relatable which helps
them to engage and watch the film.
5. Bulmer and Katz uses and gratification
theory is applied to our opening scene as
the audience are offered a sense of
escapism as it offers them a slight
release from their own lives as they feel
better in the sense that their life is
seemingly better than what they are
seeing on screen allowing them to forget
their problems.
Overall we think we succeed in attaining
our target audience.
