Question 4
1.
2. Choosing a target audience was very easy for us. We wanted our film to appeal to people around
the ages 15 too 30 because we feel like they might be able to relate more to the storyline and
understand the storyline better. We thought that our movie could be a bit of a warning, or
maybe a eye opener to audiences because the narrative in our film could easily happen to
anyone out there. Here is the audience profile we did which is also earlier on in our blog.
Age: We chose 18 because they experiment with clubbing and drugs and alcohol a lot because of
how new it is to them. As they are out so much it’s easy for any of them to fall into a situation
like the one in our film.
Interests: Our perfect target audience would be interested in things like horror films, gothic
things, rock music, etc. Because, that’s the sort of things that most teenagers are into nowadays.
3. How did we decide on our target audience? We already knew that the BBFC
age ratings and decided to rate it a 15+ as we knew that our film wouldn’t be
appropriate for anyone younger because of what it is about.
We did a questionnaire and handed it out to a few people around the ages of
15 and 20. Here is an example of one of the questionnaires we handed out
with the replies.
As you can see, we put “horror” film in our survey instead of “stalker/slasher”
because we felt that our film would fit into it, as “horror” films are a bigger
genre. We got a lot of positive feedback from our questionnaire and
4. Why do we think that our target audience will like our film? Our film is very much like
“Gone” 2012, starring Amanda Seyfried. The age rating for this film was 15+ and
because the main character was a girl, I think that the film was mostly aimed at girls. It
was very stereotypical of a horror (stalker) film as it had all the characters and all the
twists that the audience probably thought it would have.
By watching this movie myself, I have come to the conclusion that a lot of teenagers
ages 15+ and people older would have liked this film because of the stereotypical
conventions that drew them into it. For example, the fact that the victim in this film was
a girl, it made the whole situation seem a lot more innocent and heart-breaking.
This would attract the target audience because they would want to know what happens
to the villain (the stalker) and they would want to find out who ends up surviving and
who doesn’t; it’s exactly what a horror film should do. This film got 5.9 and over star
ratings from over 26, 953 viewers
