Question 5

HOW DID YOU ATTRACT/ADDRESS YOUR
AUDIENCE?






To find the right audience we did a number of things, these
include a Survey Monkey, a questionnaire and numerous
audience feedback responses.
We did research into the various film certifications and then
applied our findings to our product which influenced our target
audience.
From this, we have concluded that we will target an audience
of 12+, mainly females because we feel the film will pull on
the audiences heartstrings, and stereo-typically females feel
more emotion whilst watching films.
THE RELATION BETWEEN CHARACTERS AND
AUDIENCE


The first way we attracted our audience is by our actors, because
our film is a 12, we are going to attract our audience by having
people of a similar age as the protagonists. By doing this it means
our audience will be able to connect/relate with them and
understand what they are going through because they are of a
similar age, and they know what life is like for teens. It would also
attract them because it would appeal to them due to the fact that
you are more likely to watch a film that features people that are your
own age.
HOW PROPS CAN ATTRACT THE AUDIENCE


We used a key prop to attract our audience, this is the two toy cars.
The toy cars are showing the younger boy to be vulnerable, which
would attract females because they feel empathy for the boy. This
will therefore hook them in because they will feel intrigued and will
want to know what becomes of the boy. It will attract males because
stereo typically males are more interested in toy cars through
childhood, and this will remind them of theirs. The shop stealing
scene will also appeal to males because it contains crime. Also, as
our target audience begins at 12, this audience has just come out of
childhood, and so they will clearly be able to remember playing with
their toys and so including these props will appeal to them because
our audience can relate to them.
HOW SETTINGS ATTRACT THE AUDIENCE


In our product, we have many different settings. One of these is in a
park environment. We chose this as a setting because we thought
our audience would be able to relate to this environment and make
a connection to this scene as they will have memories in parks from
their childhood, this also links to my previous point as some of our
audience will have just come out of childhood, and so they will
remember their memories clearly.
HOW SETTINGS ATTRACT THE AUDIENCE


Also in the setting section, we have also used a scene where he
goes into a shop to steal something. Despite males not being our
main target audience, we think this will appeal to them because
stereotypically men prefer crime over emotion, and so this should
appeal to them.
HOW CHARACTERS ATTRACT THE AUDIENCE


Using two different boys will attract our wanted audience, but it will
also widen and expand our audience. It will expand it to an older
audience because mothers of an older age will feel empathy
towards the boy in his younger years due to their maternal instinct. I
have already discussed how the use of the older boy will attract our
desired audience.
