Arctic Monkeys. I chose this image of Arctic monkeys as at the time this was taken they were an
upcoming indie band. I think this is a good image as the neck of the guitar travels across the image
making it interesting.
I chose this image of Drake because of the contrast between the dark background and the lighter
tone of his skin makes it more interesting. Black and white effect makes everything look classic as
Drake is a rapper it gives him a classic edge and this isn’t usual with rappers. His body is more to the
left of the image with his head slightly tilted to the right of the image. Drakes right eye has is directly
on the line if the rule of thirds.
Beyonce is a classic R ‘n’ B singer and I believe that this image shows this because of the classic red
dress she has on. Also sex sells and the colour red can be a symbol of love and lust attracting men to
the image. This also shows stereotype of women that all women should look this way. She is more to
the right of the image and her body is more to the centre of the image.

Coldplay. The lead singer of the group is stood at the front of the image to the left. His eyes would
be along the top line of the rule of thirds. Also his band mates are stood behind in but in positions
where you can see their faces, making the image fuller. The image is in black and white, this shows
they are more traditional as Coldplay have been around for a while and are in the older generation
of bands. When you look at the image the first thing you notice is Chris’ eyes as they have a sparkle
to them. They are stood in front of a wall which has very little detail which makes the band members
the only thing you look at on the image. This achieves informal symmetry. All the band members are
looking directly at the camera.
Ed Sheeran. I chose this image because His eyes are directly on the line of the rule of thirds and are
one of the first things you look at on the image. They really stand out as he has pale skin and bright
blue eyes. They also match his top as his top is blue. This shows he is a happy person as he is sticking
his tongue out with ‘hi!” written on a piece of paper. I feel this image achieves formal symmetry as
he is directly in the middle and is a straight forward image.

30 seconds to mars are a rock band. I chose this image as I believe it really pursues that they are a
rock band. The image is gritty which makes them look slightly out of focus. Also the band members
are stood slightly in front of each other in different positions, which makes the image interesting as
they are not making one of the band members stand out they are equalising them all. Also the image
is in black and white giving a classic rock feel. They are stood in front of a brick wall which also shows
rock as it is an old broken wall and eerie and rock is eerie and scary music. It achieves informal
symmetry. All the band members are looking at the camera, bar the one on the left who is looking to
his right.
Lady Gaga. Lady Gaga is a very quirky singer. She is dressed in a black PVC full body suit and has
strange shoes on which show her quirkiness. She isn’t looking directly at the camera. The top of her
head would be along the bottom line of the rule of thirds and her body is elongated across the
picture.
