• For my work I have been researching audience classification for the song and video of ‘Blurred Lines’. This
song and the video features Robin Thicke, T.I and Pharrell Williams.
• This rated song is a very popular song on youtube, it has; 349,692,610 views, 1,278,214 likes, 162,456
dislikes and Robin Thicke has 1,216,987 subscribers on his vevo account.
• The unrated song has; 36,795,134 views, 269,591 likes, 81,156 dislikes.
• The song was released on the 26th March 2013 but was published on the 20th March 2013 on youtube.

3. Age Range And Gender
• I think the audience for the Blurred Lines song is young teenagers, i think the age range will be 13+
because it can be very inappropriate for anyone any younger. I think this because there is a lot of
references to sex and the way the men in the music videos are treating the women and sex objects and
they don’t really care about how they look, so I think that the age 13+ have some what respect for
themselves to not do that.
• I think the gender for this song would be both sexes ( boys and girls ), but I think that the boy would enjoy
the song more because of what the song is implying, the women could find it offensive and might not
want to listen to it.

4. House Income And Life Ambition
• The deposable income would be if they are young it would be what the parents have given them or if they
had a part time job, if they were adults then the common household income.
• Some of the youths that would listen to this song wouldn't know what they wanted to do with their life.
They would still be at school and college and the older people that listen would already have a job. But it
could set some high standards for the girls/women because they may see the women in the music video
as role models and they might think that the best life decision is to get half naked an dance on T.V.

5. Geo Demographics And Faiths
• The Geo demographics of the people that would listen to this is more like living in the city and in urban
areas. The mainstream cities and shopping centres would have it playing.
• The people that listen to this song are more likely to not have a faith/region, it is too derogative for some
faiths/religions, as some religions don’t believe in sex before marriage, this music video could cause some
controversy because it is very sex orientated and is not appropriate for this type of view.

6. Fashion And The Impact It Has
• Also i think that the music video has a big impact on what peoples views are on fashion because people
want to dress like the people in the music video. Fashion at the moment has also become cheeper and
more affordable. In the music video the girls were dressed as sex toys and were wearing very short
clothing and like leather looking shorts. The impressionable teens we have nowadays will copy this outfit
because they think its cool. When women are dressed like this the boys/men look at these women as good
looking and look like “sluts”, this implies that the woman are dressing to impress or are looking for

7. Reception Of Product
I did a couple of interviews on about this music video, and this is the replies I got;
Male Views:
• I think this is a good video but on the other hand its not in other ways because it exposes women and says
they are like sex slaves.
• This music video doesn’t leave much to the imagination it show you everything.
• It is also just blatant disrespect.
Female Views;
• This music video is all about objectifying woman, and make you think that all woman are slaves.
• Also its implying that woman are sex objects and that any sexual fantasy's you have you can act them out
on woman any time you please.
