The target audience for this film is I think its aimed at men because there
is barley any men in this film apart from the husband who died in the
start. Another reason I think this is aimed a guys because there is six
women in it and it will have a lot of sex appeal to the film because there
clothing as well is quite tight clothing and you have the sense where
there in the PJs. Also they’re very independent and there like they don’t
need any man this I think it appeals more because men want what they
cant have. Also they might be horror fans, which would for a man like a
horror movie with all women. Age range I would say 15-25 year old
men. Also the work class is C1, C2, D witch are in work people but
silently going up to higher management.
The secondary target audience is women because of it all be a female cast
it also shows the independence of women so t sort of in powers women
because it shows in the film that they can clear protect them selves. This is
aimed at age 15-25 age range women and the work class is C1, C2, D this is
women that have a good income and going towards more of a higher achy
job.
Additional
Another audience could be people who
are into extreme sports because in this
film the girls do a lot of extreme sports
and we see the rafting and the caving
with all the equipment. It might spark
the fans off and with the age range is
25-35 people are mostly have good
jobs but they haven’t got kids so they
have lots of spare cash so they take up
the hobby like extreme sports and the
work class is C1/C2.
Rubicams
Primary audience
This group would these as the individuals because it’s the guys who likes the
gadgets and who are big horror fans too. These are the people who have good
jobs but might have families but they still love a good horror film and like to sit
at home with games.
Secondary audience
Are the women who have good jobs but they are mainstreams because they have
lots of good ideas and they are still on good money.
Additional audience
The extreme sports people are the guys who are aspirers because these are the
guys who don’t have to spend there money on kids or very much so they have
lots of spare money that they can throw around and spend stuff on.
Audience Theme Justification
Primary Gore This is because these are all your
horror fans and horror fans like all the
blood and guts. And they are mostly
men who like these films.
Primary Music This is because these people are also
your horror fans but also some of
them will like music plus it adds to
how scary the senses are.
Primary Women/stars All the primary audience because it is
aimed at men because how it’s an all
women cast its to do with sex appeal.
Primary Neil Marshall This is because he is a horror director
and this will appeal to the horror fans
and they might go look at another
films that he is involved in. Also he
could be a well know for horror
movies.
Additional Adventure These are the older men who like the
out doors and outdoors and like to do
extreme stuff and adventuring is a big
part of the sports they do.
Additional Caving This is because they like extreme
sports and caving comes under one of
them sports. Also in the Descent you
see all the caving gear and the
climbing gear, which really would
appeal to the people who do extreme
sports like caving, or rock climbing.
Additional Sports The Descent has lots of sports in it,
which would attract the people who
are into sports who have no kids and
have lots of money to spend on sports.
In the start of the Descent you see the
water rafting and then you see Juno
running around the forest in the
morning then you see them go caving
all of these would link to sports.
Primary Monsters Most horror films have monsters in
them and a horror fan likes a good
scary monster because they want to
see something they have never seen
before. In the Descent they do this well
because you don’t see the monster
until near the end of the film but then
again you know that they are there
because you get glimpses of them so it
makes you mind wonder what the
monster actually looks like.
Secondary Drama This is because women like drama
they like the whole thing about how
people do bad things. In the Descent
we see in the start of it the link
between the Sarah’s husband and her
friend Juno we see that there is a
romantic side to them and that makes
people interested from the start and
then you see her reaction in the
hospital Juno is crying for Paul
(Sarah’s husband) but then in the end
we see how the drama catches up with
Juno because Sarah finds out and kills
her.
Secondary Narrative This is because girls like a story and a
good story at that they like it to be able
to have feeling for the actors in the
film as the film goes along. Like in the
Descent they do it well because when
Beth nearly dies by Juno hands it
sparks a lot of emotions and then
when Sarah has to finish her off even
though we know she doesn’t want to
but she is putting her out of her pain.
Also in the Descent I think there is a
sort of motive what goes around
comes around.
