1. Artists Photo analysis
This image shows rock band ‘thirty seconds to
mars’ the bands front man (Jared Leto) is stood
slightly in front of his fellow band mates and the
light is focused on him. Slightly behind Jared are
the other two band members (Shannon and
Tomo) these two band members are in a slightly
faded light and in a less dynamic pose than the
front man as they are stood with their hands by
their sides and looking at the camera whereas
Jared is stood with his hands on his collar and he
is looking down at the camera.
This photo of ‘Katy Perry’ shows the
singer sat on a 60’s style chair as she
poses glamorously like a golden age
movie star. She is wearing a cut out
purple dress with purple hair to
complement in 20’s waves extending
the glamorous style as she gazes into
the distance. She has quite heavy
make-up with pink lips and dark eyes.
She is also wearing black platform
shoes. The photograph is taken in a
long shot against a dark beige
background and the lighting comes
from the top right corner.
This Photo shows indie band ‘Walk the
moon’ the photo shoot was taken
looking as if it is just a photo of friends
as it shows the bands front man
(Nicolas) on the back of bassist (Kevin).
There is an effect used on the camera
that makes the colours on the photo
appear softer than usual. All members
of the band are looking in different
directions and they are all stood very
close suggesting that they are all fiends
outside of the band and are all very
comfortable around each other.

2. This image shows alternative band
‘The Neighbourhood’ the photo is
taken in black and white and all
band members are looking into the
distance suggesting that they are
serious about their music. The bands
frontman (Jesse) is sat down in the
centre and dressed in all black with
is hands together. Behind them are
strings of lights. The bottom of the
photo and the top corners are in the
most darkness.
This photo is of indie band ‘The 1975’ two of
the bands lesser known members are stood on
either end looking down at the floor whereas
the bands drummer and front man are shown
looking at the camera with the front man
pushing his hair back drawing the attention to
him as he is not in the same stance as he rest
of the band. The image also shows sparks
falling from the ceiling. This suggests that they
are a bright new talent. It also give
connotations of magic.

in focus more than the rest of the
band; making the image of him
look sharper. The other 3
members of the band are stood
further back in a staggered order.
The camera is less in focused on
the member’s further back. They
are stood against a dull
grey/brown background; making
them stand out more.

3. This photo of singer/songwriter ‘Beyoncé’ was taken
against a white background that contrasts with her
dark outfit making it stand out, she is seen wearing
dark navy jeans, a thick black belt and a black strapless
top. She has her hair down straight and simple makeup
with dramatic eyes, drawing the attention to her face.
The Photo was taken as a mid-shot to show as much of
her as possible .There is also a defined shadow around
her. There is high key lighting directly at her skin shine
and making the shadow appear directly behind her.
This photograph of ‘Justin
Timberlake’ shows the singer on the
tips of his toes with knees bent, one
hand out and the other in his
pocket. This pose shows his dancer
past. There is a shadow on the floor
reflecting his pose. He is seen
wearing a shirt with the sleeves
turned up, a bow tie, black boot
shoes and blue velvet looking pants,
suggesting that his fashion style has
changed along with his music. The
photo is taken as a portrait long
shot. Along with his dance style
pose he is seen looking into the
distance with a smile on his face.
