Outline of ideas for music video (narrative, characterisation, concept etc…)
The lead singer is shown in an American style diner with her friends, she then sees a
boy she has a crush on. At the chorus the girls all break into a choreographed dance
routine. They then go outside, to a street setting. Main girl gets a text to say there’s a
party tonight. By the second chorus they turn up at the party. At the bridge, the main
girl and boy are alone, the girl will sing as if she’s confessing her love for him. Then
at the end everyone will be at the party, denoted dancing and enjoying themselves.

Justification of ideas relating to artist, genre and audience questionnaire and
focus group information.
The American diner was suggested by someone in the focus group. This setting
relates to the artist since she is American. It also relates the Pop/R&B genre as it
can be seen in other videos in that genre, such as Sean Kingston’s ‘Beautiful Girls’
and Cher Lloyd’s ‘Want U Back’. The street and party settings were popular choices
from the questionnaire. Both of these places can be seen in Grande’s video for ‘Baby
I’.
I wanted to include the iconography of a mobile phone within my video because my
research found that this was quite conventional in Pop and R&B videos.
