FACTS : 
 The radius of a circle is half of its diameter 
 The circled measurement of a circle is its circumference 
 When we divide the circumference of a circle with its diameter we got the constant number, 휋 
 A circle with radius ‘r’ , whose circumference is 2 휋r. 4

Introduction 
Activity No. 1 
Teacher divides the whole class into 4 groups and giving the 
models of circle to each group. Teacher asks students to find 
out the radius, diameter and the relations between them 
PRESENTATION 
Activity No. 2 
Then the teacher gives thread to each group and to find out the 
circumference using the thread. 
Activity No. 3 
Teacher gives activity cards to each group and asks to find out 
the radius, diameter, circumference and

푑푖푎푚푡푒푟 
They measures the radius and diameter and find 
out that 2xradius = diameter 
Students find out the circumference using 
thread and scale

Teacher asks to find out the principle 
 From this teacher concluded that when we divide 
circumference with diameter we will get a fixed number, 
this number is denoted as 휋 in Greek letter, William 
Johns coined this name in AD 1707 , the value of this 
number is 22/7 and find decimal value is 3.14. 
 Teacher shows the chart and gives the note. 
The fixed number 흅 
When we divide the circumference of a circle with its diameter 
we will get a fixed number. This fixed number is denoted by the 
Greek letter ‘휋′ 
Students said that when we divide 
circumference with diameter we will get a fixed

The circumference of a circle is 25.12 cm, diameter is 8 cm, 
then find the value of 휋?

  • 3. CONCEPT : The concept ‘휋’ FORMULAE : 휋 = 퐶푖푟푐푢푚푓푒푟푒푛푐푒 푑푖푎푚푒푡푒푟 SYMBOLS : r radius, 휋 = 22 7 ≅ 3.141 LEARNING OUTCOME Students will be able to; 1. Recalls about circle 2. Recognizes radius of circle and diameter of circle. 3. Understands the concept of 휋 4. Exemplify different situations to analyze the concept. 5. Apply the above concept in familiar situation. 6. Accept the beauty of mathematical principles.

  • 5. CLASS ROOM INTERACTION PROCEDURE RESPONSES Introduction Activity No. 1 Teacher divides the whole class into 4 groups and giving the models of circle to each group. Teacher asks students to find out the radius, diameter and the relations between them PRESENTATION Activity No. 2 Then the teacher gives thread to each group and to find out the circumference using the thread. Activity No. 3 Teacher gives activity cards to each group and asks to find out the radius, diameter, circumference and 푐푖푟푢푚푓푒푟푒푛푐푒 푑푖푎푚푡푒푟 They measures the radius and diameter and find out that 2xradius = diameter Students find out the circumference using thread and scale Students find out each measurement 2 8 12 2 2 10 14

The fixed number 흅 When we divide the circumference of a circle with its diameter we will get a fixed number. This fixed number is denoted by the Greek letter ‘휋′ Students said that when we divide circumference with diameter we will get a fixed number

APPLICATION The circumference of a circle is 25.12 cm, diameter is 8 cm, then find the value of 휋?  What is to be find out?  What is the value of circumference?  How much is the diameter?  Then what is the radius?  How can we find out the value of 휋?  Then find out the value  Is the value right or not? The value of 휋 25.12 cm 8 cm 4 cm Divide the circumference with diameter. 휋 = 25.12 8 = 3.14 푐푚 Right
  • 8. Review  What will get from the division of circumference of a circle with diameter.  What is the value of 휋? Follow up activity  Construct a circle with radius 7cm. find out the diameter circumference and divide these values to find out 휋?
