Grace wants to buy a round photo frame
for her sister. The radius of the photo
frame is 8 cm. What is the area of the
photo frame?
What is asked in the problem? the area
of the round photo frame ?
Do you know how to find the area of a
circle?
The area of a circle is the number of square units
inside that circle.
If each square in the circle to the left has an area
of 1 cm2, you could count the total number of
squares to get the area of this circle. Thus, if
there were a total of 28.26 squares, the area of
this circle would be 28.26 cm2.
However, it is easier to use one of the
following formulas:
𝐴 = 𝜋𝑟 2 or 𝐴 = 𝜋 • r • r
Where: A = Area
r = radius and
𝜋 = 3.14
Let’s find the area of the photo frame
Grace wants to buy using the formula.
Therefore, the area of the
round photo frame Grace
wants to buy is 200.96 cm2.

A. Directions: Find the area of the circle given
the diameter. Fill in the table. (Use π = 3.14).
What is the
area of this
circle?
Since the formula is only given in terms
of radius, remember to change from
diameter to radius when necessary.
The radius is equal to half the diameter.
What is the radius of the given circle?
4cm ÷ 2 = 2 cm
Therefore, the area of the circle with a
diameter of 4 cm is 12.56 𝑐𝑚2 .
Find the area of the following figures.
Complete the table.
Directions: God wants you to honor and
respect your parents. Do something extra
nice for them everyday and let love and
harmony live in your family. Calculate the
area of the following and write the letter of
the correct answer in the corresponding box
to know the hidden word. Use π = 3.14

Solves routine and
non-routine problems
involving the area of a
circle
Discover the hidden word by finding the area
of each circle given the diameter or radius.
What is asked in the problem?
The maximum area the goat can graze.
What is the shape of the maximum area
that the goat can graze?
Circle
Therefore, we must find the area of the circle
to find out the maximum area the goat can
graze.
We will use the formula A= 𝜋r 2 to find the
area of the circle.
What do you think is the measure of the
radius of the circle?
The radius is equal to the length of
the rope which is 3.5 m.
Let us solve for the maximum area the goat
can graze.
Therefore, the
maximum area that
the goat can graze is
38.465 m2.
Let us solve another word problem.
Kelsey bought a circular rug that is 12

  • 2. Finds the area of a given circle.
  • 3.
  • 4. Explore and Discover Grace wants to buy a round photo frame for her sister. The radius of the photo frame is 8 cm. What is the area of the photo frame? What is asked in the problem? the area of the round photo frame ? Do you know how to find the area of a circle?
  • 5. The area of a circle is the number of square units inside that circle. If each square in the circle to the left has an area of 1 cm2, you could count the total number of squares to get the area of this circle. Thus, if there were a total of 28.26 squares, the area of this circle would be 28.26 cm2.
  • 6. However, it is easier to use one of the following formulas: 𝐴 = 𝜋𝑟 2 or 𝐴 = 𝜋 • r • r Where: A = Area r = radius and 𝜋 = 3.14
  • 7. Let’s find the area of the photo frame Grace wants to buy using the formula.
  • 8. Therefore, the area of the round photo frame Grace wants to buy is 200.96 cm2.
  • 9. Read each item carefully. Circle the letter of the correct answer. 1. What is the area of the given circle? A. 6.28 cm2 B. 12.56 cm2 C. 25.12 cm2 D. 50.24 cm2

  • 12. “May no gift too small to give, nor too simple to receive, which is wrapped in thoughtfulness, and tied with love.” L.O. Balrd Being thoughtful to our loved ones makes them feel valued and loved. Do you value your parents, brothers or sisters? How do you show your thoughtfulness to them?
  • 13. How to find the area of a circle?
  • 14. Directions: Read each item carefully. Write the letter of the correct answer. 1. What is the area of the given circle? A. 7.065 m2 B. 70.65 m2 C. 706.5 m2 D. 7 065 m2
  • 15. 2. A circle has a radius of 10 cm. What is its area? A. 15.7 cm2 B. 31.4 cm2 C. 62.8 cm2 D. 314 cm2 3. Find the area of a circle with a diameter of 8 cm. A. 50.24 cm2 B. 50.2 cm2 C. 5.024cm2 D. 5.02 cm2
  • 16. 4. If a circle has a diameter of 30 dm, what is its area? A. 706.5 dm2 B. 70.65 dm2 C. 7.065 dm2 D. 0.7065 dm2 5. The radius of a circle measures 7 m. Find its area. A. 15.386 m2 B. 153.86 m2 C. 1538.6 m2 D. 15 386 m2
  • 17. A. Directions: Find the area of the circle given the diameter. Fill in the table. (Use π = 3.14).
  • 18.
  • 19. What is the area of this circle?
  • 20. Since the formula is only given in terms of radius, remember to change from diameter to radius when necessary. The radius is equal to half the diameter. What is the radius of the given circle?
  • 21. 4cm ÷ 2 = 2 cm Therefore, the area of the circle with a diameter of 4 cm is 12.56 𝑐𝑚2 .
  • 22. Find the area of the following figures.
  • 24. Directions: God wants you to honor and respect your parents. Do something extra nice for them everyday and let love and harmony live in your family. Calculate the area of the following and write the letter of the correct answer in the corresponding box to know the hidden word. Use π = 3.14
  • 25.
  • 26. How to find the area of a circle?
  • 27. Directions: Find the area of the circle. Write the letter of the correct answer.
  • 28.
  • 29.
  • 30. Solves routine and non-routine problems involving the area of a circle
  • 31. Discover the hidden word by finding the area of each circle given the diameter or radius.
  • 32.
  • 33. What is asked in the problem? The maximum area the goat can graze. What is the shape of the maximum area that the goat can graze? Circle
  • 34. Therefore, we must find the area of the circle to find out the maximum area the goat can graze. We will use the formula A= 𝜋r 2 to find the area of the circle. What do you think is the measure of the radius of the circle?
  • 35. The radius is equal to the length of the rope which is 3.5 m. Let us solve for the maximum area the goat can graze.
  • 36. Therefore, the maximum area that the goat can graze is 38.465 m2.
  • 37. Let us solve another word problem. Kelsey bought a circular rug that is 12 inches in diameter. Find the area of the rug. (Radius is equal to one half of the diameter. 12 ÷ 2 = 6).
  • 38. The area of the rug is 113.04 in2.
  • 39. Directions: Analyse the problem and answer the questions that follow. Jayne has a very large circular lollipop that has a diameter of 10 inches. What would the area of Jayne’s lollipop be? 1. What is asked in the problem? ________________________________
  • 40. 2. What is the radius of the lollipop? _____________________________ 3. What is the formula for getting the area of the circle? _________________________________ 4. What is the value of Pi (𝜋) ? ___________________________ 5. What is the answer? ___________________________
