Working Title: Photoshop magazine
Audience:
My target demographic would be young persons between the ages of 15-30 hoping to improve
their photoshop knowledge and skills, they would be social status A-C1 maybe C2 as they would
most probably own photoshop which is an expensive product. Gender does not really play a major
part as there are both male and female visual creators, so it should be tailored to attract both
genders. The gender attraction might change dependant on the contents of the magazine however
this is something you could only measure by sales figures.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Throughout the year I have used photoshop a lot, both for college work and in my own time at
home. Throughout this time, I have acquired a relatively large ensemble of tricks techniques and
general knowledge about photoshop, I have learned plenty about colour correction, shading and
cropping. Therefore, I think I will be able to create a product that can look as good as I want it to be
and I think it will greatly benefit my workflow, as I spend less time looking up how to do this and
how to do that.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
I would like to create a magazine that teaches people how to do things in photoshop and
discusses them in depth. For example, a section on the different blending modes, what they do
and how you can use them to impact your product. Other aspects would include things such as
walk through. The magazine website could have tutorial videos and a speed art videos of the
creation for the magazine cover. This would cause traffic on both the magazine and the website
due to them being interlinked, a reader will see something in the magazine they would like to learn
or try out, then they go to the website and watch the video tutorials to get a full idea. This will
produce twice the revenue and the reader will have a better understanding of photoshop, which is
the aim of the magazine/website, so it’s a win, win situation. The magazine also could include
things such as posters and photoshop competitions, and the winner of the competition gets their
image included in the next magazine and their social media links will be displayed, this will again
bring traffic, the competitions can be hosted on social media which will give the magazine even
more publicity.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan to evaluate it against other work, both amateur and professional, I will compare it to existing
work of mine (the Irn-Bru rotation). I will also evaluate it using my weekly development diary and
my production reflection. This will help me create better work in the future and also realise what I
did wrong/ could have gone better or things that went as good or even better than expected.
